Block party in Storrs next year with Akok and Sid on the court.
Without exaggeration, in a couple years if we run out Bouknight, Wilson, Akok, and Wahab lineup, it could be one of the best shot blocking teams we’ve ever had, and we’ve had some crazy ones.

Wilson and Bouknight always struck me as fantastic rim protectors for their position.

Sid is incredibly athletic, but he is also a skilled shot blocker who appears to have good timing. He shows a nose for the ball chasing down rebounds as well. Despite his poor shooting so far, he looks like he has the tools to become a good shooter. He sure was exciting to watch tonight.

I said shot blocking, not overall.

Wahab and Akok are both top 5 shot blockers in their class, and Wilson and Bouknight are both big time weak side shot blockers. Kevin Ollie had 4 top 15 shot blocking teams. It’s really not hard to believe.

You don’t have to defend what you said. Was referring to the highs and lows of our (boneyard) reactions after wins and losses. I agree with you

I was so happy to see this thread when I got home from the game. Sid is an absolute stud of an athlete, I am salivating at the prospect of Sid Akok and Wahab being on the court at the same time. We may lead the nation in blocked shots again.

So happy to look forward to his progress. As someone else said, AG too.

We led the nation in shot blocking for nine straight years, from the '01-'02 season through '09-'10. Dropped to 14 in '10-'11 and the back to 4 in '11-'12.

2004-2005 was particularly impressive, as we bested the #2 team by 2.1 bpg. We averaged 8.9 blocks per game that year, with four guys averaging more than 1.
  • Josh averaged 2.9 bpg.
  • Rudy averaged 1.9.
  • Charlie averaged 1.8.
  • Hilton averaged 1.2.
