I'm old enough to remember their national championship against an excellent Cincinnati team (that included one of my all time favorites, Tony Yates) 55 years ago. What a Cinderella team!
Following Christmas they came to the Palestra and Jack Ramsay's St Joe Hawks taught them how they play ball in Philly. I was there, just a young kid, screaming my lungs out as we sang "oh when the Hawks come flying in". What a phenomenal win for the home town guys, Matty Goukas, Billy Oaks and Co. Just fabulous.
But this Loyola team deserves huge glory, too. What dreams are made of.
