37 sacks, 34 times Bryant was brought down. I would like to see the number of rushes that were the result of pass pro breakdowns or BS abandoning the pass. This still is the big issue to resolve. Experience should help BS get better in the pass side of being QB. We have to join the rest of FBS in having the ability to score by throwing the ball.

2,000 yards and 9 TDs. This position should not be handed to him.

I am not getting much work done today. This is awesome. The first game under the lights on ESPN vs Pitt. Of course you remember that series by Pitt backed up to the student section. Goose bumps...can't wait for these type games to come back. Love your site Matt.

The Whitmer fan club is in the house.

Have you written a star trek fanboy episode where the middle aged salesman with flaccid stubby fingers becomes the football coach and plays Boyle and wins a NC?

I agree. I think he's awful, but that's not to say he's not the best we have, which is what it is.

So anything be can do or others to improve is welcomed.

He's definitely not awful. We know all too well what awful can be, but it's not what we saw in 2015.

I agree with the general message, though. A QB battle in camp isn't a bad thing this year. We know what we have as a baseline, now it's about building depth/improving.

You have to think of him as running the second leg of a relay, when its time to pass the baton, you say thanks!

From the limited stuff I saw during the Dog House Party, Shirreffs is far and away the #1 and Garrett Anderson looked like the #2. TD looked like he still had a ways to go

For those of us who didn't see it, what areas is TD a "ways to go" behind the others?

I always thought Whitmer had the makings to be a fine QB. Whether he was more talented than Shirreffs or not I don't know. The problem was that the stupid twins just about ruined him physically and mentally. By the time Diaco came along he had to play behind a new and under-developed OL. Kid just never had a good shot at being successful.

Reality is, we don't know what we have behind Shirreffs. I think losing Boyle was a real blow to depth and we can only that Shirreffs stays healthy. I do think this coaching staff is wed to dual threat QBs and my hope is that they viewed both TD and GA as ahead of Boyle and that is what prompted Boyle's departure.

Agree with all your points except Boyle. He had plenty of opportunity to show he could play at this level. And all numbers and eye tests said D1 football was too fast for him. I wish him well; he's not the first HS kid to find out how tough D1 football is for most.

I like the direction the staff is taking with the QB spot. TD and DW and I think Jordan,if that's his name, are all taller and athletic QBs which we need until the OL becomes a strength and those traits are always good anyways. I think I spelled athletic wrong but I can spell #BLEEDBLUE. Can't wait till next week
