But Geno will not be dictatorial in that choice and will be very supportive of whoever it is. My own thought is if Geno does decide to retire within the next 3 years, CD would be the best stop-gap to run the program for 3-5 year period, then hopefully, another legacy candidate will be the heir apparent.
