Hopefully with KO and/or JC at the table, too! I am sure one of them will be.

KO said he wouldn't be there. He may have to change his tune now.

It would be very Shabazz-like to refuse the invite (he's not about individual accolades/hype). Unless a team has promised him they'd grab him at a certain spot, which is highly unlikely.

Either way, great for him. We all knew his potential and it's great that others in the NBA are finally starting to wake up. I still think he can be a steal as a poor-man's Stephen Curry in the league for many years.

Congrats Shabazz. FINALLY someone opened their eyes and saw that he is better than every other PG in the draft

We already know he was getting drafted at some point in the first round, and likely towards the end unless one team makes a move for him which is very possible. Even if he does have to sit there for most of the first round, he can shine his two championship rings while he waits and we all know wherever he ends up, they will be getting a special player. He can be in the league for a while if he ends up in a good situation.

Awesome getting facetime is great for recruiting,he's earned it. It's great for his mom Carmen as well who raised shabazz as a single mother and never put her son above others like some parents do.

Yeah they know he'll be late 1st round, I think they mostly invited him because he will represent the champions (booyah) and because he's such a great interview they don't want to pass up.

I think its mostly Ollie, but he's been so well prepared on how to be a great role model for young kids when speaking at any sort of event. He's humble, always thanks his teammates and coaching staff (and the best athletic trainer in the world), and so what if he attacks the NCAA every once in a while

I thought KO said he wouldn't be attending unless one of his players was in the green room. My guess is he'd go now if Shabazz decided to.

If you're not a guaranteed lottery pick, I wouldn't go.

Of course Shabazz will go, and any player should. He's been overlooked often enough, it won't trouble him to be the last one picked there. He's going to be picked and it will be top 20, maybe top 15. Regardless, it will be good for the NBA to have him there and interviewed whenever he's picked, because he is a charismatic and high-character guy who the NBA will want front and center before the public; and it's good for Shabazz to get more exposure, it will help his endorsement income.

Bazz is mentally and emotionally tough. He's used to being the underdog and can handle it even if the slides into the second round, which I doubt will happen.

Awesome! Doesn't Calhoun keep a pic of all the UConn guys with Stern(Silver) in his office?

This kinda sucks for my selfish fandom. I was really hoping he'd fall to the C's 2nd first rounder. Doesn't seem any chance of that now.

It only took 4 minutes for someone to predict doom, gloom and conspiracy against UCONN. Impressive.

Huh. And here I thought that was a weak effort on the Yard's part. This board's slipping.

Exactly, the worry is nonsensical. Drama is Johnny Football or anyone who is EXPECTED to go very high falling out of the lottery. Someone not expected to be in the lottery and forecasted high-teens to twenties doesn't fit that. Sure there is still a possibility that Shabazz slips out of first round, but this invite dramatically lowered the expected odds of that. Shabazz was invited to sit with the elite because he belongs there and so of course he accepted.
