I can't imagine why an admin would delete it. So I'm wondering if billy shea did the unthinkable and deleted it on his own so as to try to ruin the mojo.

Why not? It's only bad for the mojo if you think it's bad for the mojo. The mojo gods have decided that it's time for the thread to go (regardless of how it got deleted) - it has apparently served its mojo purpose.
