I don't know what to make of the comparison. Angel was a great college player mainly because of her intensity and drive. Sarah is already a greater player because of her complete skill set. She doesn't lack drive either, but her game is simply better and more sophisticated. Why does it feel like a pandora's box has been opened because of this statement? 😉 😂
Damn, I know it is a common practice. I just think it's low class exploitation. The fact that so many do it doesn't change what it is. Big time college sports is a cut throat business. Now tell me to lighten up and it is just good clean fun. Our first spat. 😂Disagree, it's a common practice.
The attraction of so much of sports, we get to argue about it. One of those idioms we had fun with: All hat and no saddle or cattle, they both work.Umm…. I wouldn’t mind if she was
In Serah's case her coach Marisha, who she was and is close to, was let go and if she had to deal with a new coach why not find a winning program.A lot has been said about chemistry. I think off court chemistry has a great influence on the on-court chemistry. Stop and think about it. What are the chances that a bunch of kids will come together and be friends? If a few of them won't hang out with teammates or generally be agreeable or actually be despised, then there is no way they are going to fit in on the court. Luckily UConn's returning players seem to be good friends. Hopefully the new additions will be good friends as well. Guess what? There is nothing a coaching staff can do about personal relationships except go after nice, agreeable additions.
Edit: I might add that this may be a bigger risk with transfers, i.e. what went wrong at their old school? This could be why Geno does not load up on transfers and schools that do don't seem to be overly successful.
Lol, it's not the first friendly disagreement we've had by a longshot, but neither one of us takes that particularly seriously. 😁Damn, I know it is a common practice. Silly take, obviously they can take any pictures the student athlete wants and agrees too. There are no photo police to stop pictures being taken. Release of the pics another matter.Lots of people on this thread.
I don’t disagree. It’s not illegal in ordinary life — though in some countries pressuring people into allowing photos can be a crime. But I think it’s a gray area if powerful coaches or their assistants invite (ie pressure) teenagers to pose for them. It just feels creepy to me. Teachers have a different obligation even to potential students. And make no mistake, coaches are teachers. If that’s not the culture at some schools then something is very wrong at those places.Silly take, obviously they can take any pictures the student athlete wants and agrees too. i see it more as extortion. 'invites' tend that way if the inviter is the holder of power and the invited feels she has no power ... and often her only option is a damaging refusal to give in.I don’t disagree. Why the comparison regarding Sarah Strong and Napheesa Collier in a thread about Serah Williams?Watching the Wings/Lynx game last night I determined that Sarah plays the same game as Phee. Not flashy, 3 level scorer, great rebounder and passer, and overall a low-key personality. Not a bad comparison, so the future looks bright for Sarah if she can maintain the attributes of this years WNBA MVP.
Just to expand on that a bit: I had the impression for 32 years that the Boneyard is where we share basketball news and analysis. There is a consistent small minority who assume if you bring some news here you support whatever is being said. Shouldn't be assumed. You know me. I could care less about what you say about me. But I fear this minority position of shoot the messenger has started to be part of the culture and has reduced the "in the other news" content on the board. I consider that a real loss.I started that topic but I've got Marisa's back.
