I think initially the term red shirt was used to identify freshman postponing their initial year of eligibility but the term has come into common use use for anyone who has missed a year. (Red shirt freshmen are very common in football). A fifth year of eligibility has been granted covid year participants 20-21, but I don't know if the 5 year window was extended as well. Adding a sixth year to the window would probably be automatic but I suspect they would still need to apply. Aubrey gets her 4 years + 1 year covid. She has used two years of eligibility. So as a covid player she has remaining three years eligibility but only 2 years left to her initial 5 year window. I see no reason why she would not get that 6th year added to the window if she requested. I believe Ali Patberg is playing her fifth year in a seven year window. [/QUOTE]
