Real question is, will any of his players follow suit?? (Sorry, couldn't help it)

That's all well and good, but I would have announced donating 10% to a local hospital/shelter/nursing home or similar operation. Put the University on the spot to match, or actually try and garnish/claw-back that money.

But that's me.

What a guy. Should have been 10% for each paid player on the roster. Oh wait, that might have meant giving back his whole salary.

715k is a lot to voluntarily give up.....
That’s what people don’t understand about the bigwigs who are taking paycuts right now. People say “owwwww they can afford it” failing to recognize they have a different lifestyle/cost of living.

In my case, I understand perfectly well that paycuts could noticeably affect the day-to-day lives of even the highest of earners. In a vacuum, I have sympathy for that. However, in an environment where people are going hungry at a higher rate, losing jobs, and experiencing who knows what kind of other financial hardships, I can't work up any pity for one who now earns 900k per year instead of a million, let alone 6.435 million vs. 7.15 million.

so you’d rather him give up 0? Didn’t think so. 715k helps plenty

Well . He's still getting 6M. Tell that to the family who needs to go grab meals at shelters or may lose their apartment or car becuase thier job is non-essential. I am sure they will pity Self and his paycheck.

It's difficult to understand how anyone living in Lawrence, KS, could be materially affected by the loss of 10% of $7,000,000. And for those concerned his family will suffer here's two thoughts: if they do it's on him, not the 10% cut; and don't be surprised if the 10% cut is restored in full next year.
