Sort of like the no-crowd pandemic games.

No crowd influence so the results aren't affected by fan noise and not even the fake music to stimulate the players to rouse them up.

If it was not secret , then it might influence negatively pre-season ratings for the losing team which would then have to "make up for it" during the season. Unneeded extra pressure.

Just my take and does not come from any source other than from my own speculative nature.
