Seattle getting hammered 45-25 half-way through Q2. Stewie has 2 points, Sue has 1 assist. Washington shooting the lights out, and they get every offensive rebound when it doesn't go in. Seattle sleepwalking - need to wake up or it will be too late VERY soon.

Seattle on a 4-game road trip late in the season and 2 of the 4 games are morning starts. Seattle probably loses this one anyway but come on WNBA. Playoff seedings are at stake.

Yikes, that was a beat down. Looks like Seattle's coach gave up early, lots of minutes for bench players.

Two start times that are 8:30 am PST for a West Coast team on a road trip to the East Coast, are you kidding me? Maybe Seattle should've pulled a Las Vegas and elected to not play. What a joke.

I was there for the massacre. Thanks to VaUConnFan, we had great seats, so we could see how unhappy Sue and Coach Hughes were. I saw Minnesota get blown out here a couple of years ago, so this wasn't new.

The game was competitive for a few possessions, then got out of hand early. The deficit was 10, then 15, then 20, then 25+. The Mystics seemed to score on every possession and had 31 after the first 10 minutes.

LaToya Sanders played like Stewie: 17/12/4/1/1 on 6-6 shooting. Yikes! All her points came in the first half. EDD started slowly, but kept at it, scoring from deep, from drives, and from the line. She finished with 30 points on 11-16 shooting. KT had an off day with only 5 points on 2-10 shooting. But Natasha Cloud looked solid with 14/3/8. Ariel Atkins looked like Gabby with a 3-point shot: 12/3/1/2. She is very athletic and looks like a great pick for Washington.

For Seattle, Howard scored their first 8 points, mostly on pick and rolls, and finished with 15. Jewell added 15. Whitcomb got lots of PT, played hard, made shots, and scored 11. Stewie scored 10 and Sue had 7 in a very forgettable game.

This had to be Seattle's worst performance of the year and one of Washington's best.

We'll be there for Dallas on Sunday.

1. Washington was quite impressive at home against the league leaders. Over the years, they have always turned in their best performances against the top teams.
2. Despite getting blown out, Seattle is clearly a very good team.
3. Washington had a defensive game plan very similar to those used successfully in home victories against Minnesota. Stewie, as expected, received a great deal of attention. The defense moved in rhythm to her offensive movements. I do not believe she had a single open uncontested look the entire game.
4. Ariel Atkins made some incredible plays today; A couple right in front of us, one, a steal on the defensive end in the second half, the other on a jump ball in the first half. Absolutely incredible. Ms Atkins is going to be the difference maker for Washington for many years to come. She is that good.
5. The ageless Sue Bird looked as good today on the court as she did 20 years ago. She makes everyone on the floor better. Which prompts me to declare that Seattle, despite being a young team, is built to win right now while Sue Bird is running the point.
6. Washington, very likely, got the better end of the Ariel Powers-Tayler Hill trade.
7. Do not go to sleep on Washington come playoff time. They are capable of winning it all.

Games like this prove the importance of getting a top 2 seed. While Washington came out hot, doing that to Seattle 3 different times is unlikely.
