This subject has been debated here in the past. I think that the Seahawk's uniforms are sharp, and would be well received by today's recruits. They are made by Nike. Time for a new look!

I like the design and the colors. They look better than the previous design. I even like the bright green accent color, I'm probably in the minority but I think they could use even more of that, on the helmet or somewhere.

Personally I like the look we presently have. I doubt a student athlete using a schools uniform or colors as criteria on whether to attend a particular school would have the IQ to come here...

My point wasn't that it would be a deciding factor on an athlete coming here or not. But it may draw some attention to us, and create the impression that UConn is a progressive athletic program.

90% of recruits at some point during visits put on school unis and helmets and gloves and all that stuff and take a pic. sometimes with lockers or w/e. while the actual physical uniform is not worth 2 cents in the grand scheme. its literally worth millions quietly. this goes back to the brand and marketing also. form a simple hat on a table when a kid is picking schools to a google image search kids do daily. kids have dreams. every letter they get in the mail they read or check out w/e. they google schools. they don't go read the home pages of those schools. they look for info and pics on anything about those programs and vids also. when u do uconn vs almost any other bcs school, we lose. and its somthing i have been mad about for years. i don't mean to flip out but i would literally cut my own right arm off(i jerk with my left) to get the person with vision down at texas, bama, fl, michigan, iowa etc up in the uconn ath dept. i am in such a desperate mode its hard to believe a fan can say that. this school, state, alums and fanbase are litterally within inches of breaking thru to the big boy status. its not that far. but yet we can not make the hump and it pains me. every time oregon or atm play on tv, besides the fans and just fball watchers, thousands of kids are at home watching. a good amount of them at some point say to a friend or tweet or something to the effect of "sick unis team x has".... its the biggest convo and interest starter in modern day college athletics. its a 20$ shirt to some, to others its milions of dollars in the dam bank. and i'm not just talking recruits for 1 sport. i'm alking all sports and all students. u know hoe many kids look at ecu and think purple first before anything else when they are thinking about it college wise? not a good perception start. whle that should not even factor into the education etc of college, bottom line is it does. now look at northwestern, see a bit of a difference? i do. i'm just going to stop.

Wait, Northwestern's unis are bad? I thought the ones with the stripes were kinda cool. Or are you saying they are cool?

And I think Texas's unis look like the color of poo (maybe after eating spicy food) and I have a hard time believing any kid would like those who wasn't already a UT fan. But... what do I know.

Texas' Unis were designed by Darrel Royal to mimic the color of a football so it would be harder for the defense to see it when carried. That burnt orange is here to stay.

The idea of using neon green comes from the 1974 World Football League Portland Storm. Their jerseys were so neat.

So let's remain a program with a traditional look, a past-his-prime,boring head coach and an inept, "can't score" offense. This will certainly have the better high school players faxing the LOI to UConn.

It's not a matter of "Old School Tradition" anymore. For UConn it is a matter of survival. They've got to "think outside the box" and "spend money to make money". It's called marketing.

I was wondering this the other day. Totally in favor of an occasional different look. However, I was wondering who drives this? Adidas did retro uniforms for Nebraska/Wisc game (total fail). Nike has Pro-Combat for several schools. How much of this is the school driving the bus vs. the manufacturer?

Our basketball teams wear retro-unis sometimes.. Why can't our football team do the same?

But what about the relay races Royal designed using a 45rpm record? Do they still use that, perhaps with a CD?

What about KSU?

ECU is not that bad... think retro Minnesota Vikings? Helmets are slick.
