Xavier is 8-3 and headed to Hartford for a Wednesday night tilt with our Huskies.

They have played Michigan, TCU, and Cincinnati and lost all 3. They have beaten Wake Forest and otherwise beat up on some truly lesser teams.

Starters:
  • Zach Freemantle, 6'9" 225 lb 5th year forward takes most of the shots, not especially great at the 3, but averages almost 17 a game on 2 pt shooting. He can be fouled and is not a great (65% ish) free throw shooter.
  • Ryan Conwell, 6'4" 215lb Junior guard is their best shooter and hits > 40% from 3.
  • Dayvion McKnight, 6'0" 190lb 5th year point guard is their facilitator. He averages ~16 a game.
  • Dailyn Swain, 6'8" 220lb Sophomore guard is a role player, mainly rebounder, and not a big threat.
  • Marcus Foster, 6'5" 215lb Senior guard is a transfer from Furham who has a lesser role @ Xavier but can shoot the 3 and be a pesky offensive player but not their main weapon.
Off the bench they have 3 guys who play > 10 min:
  • John Hugley IV - 6'11", 270lb senior forward - role player, foul guy, avg ~5 pt a game
  • Dante Maddox, Jr - 6'2" ,200lb senior guard - journeyman on 3rd team ~5 pt a game
  • Jerome Hunter - 6'8", 225 senior forward who comes off the bench against better teams but started vs some lesser teams.
So they run 4 guards and a forward without a traditional big man 5 (Hughley is maybe an option for them but I doubt they will start him). They also are prone to bouts of bad shooting and can turn the ball over.

Keys will be exploiting mismatches on offense, hitting 3s, winning the battle of the turnovers, and not fouling out.

XL will be rocking though!

We likely will see Hughly IV/Hunter in place of Freemantle then. Bench is thinner then. Let's get some fouls on them!

Their guards will look to attack as much as they can after seeing what Colorado, Memphis and Dayton did against us. We are better defensively now than then but can't leave Conwell open from three as he's shooting 45 percent. I assume Ball will be on him and Diarra on McKnight.

The good thing if they go small ball so can we. We can use AK at the 5 giving Stew some time. Without their best player and playing on the road, we should win this game easily but again stopping them from getting into the lane is key.

Tarris will start so they may go after him for fouls (driving) but I'm sure he's being prepped for just that.

I don't think they will have an answer for both AK and Liam...one of the two is going to get a worse defender and will score and facilitate for us.
