This is a potentially shattering trend if it ever takes hold. If P5 programs move towards 20-game conference schedules, it'll be impossible to put together a respectable set of games for UConn.

Big Ten discussing 20-game conference slate

An early season tournament + 20 conf. games + local, regional cupcakes = little room for G5 games.

This potentially further isolates the P5 and continues to separate those programs.

Might be 1-2yrs down the line, but the uphill battle continues for us

With the ACC doing this it was only a matter of time before the Big Ten does. On a semi-related note, I believe they are moving toward a 10-game football schedule in the Big Ten in the future.

It could be difficult for sure. UConn will have to continue thinking outside the box for building a solid non-conference schedule. If you look at our non-conference schedule this year it is very good. I hope that we can continue to build a challenging schedule. You can build a solid non-conference schedule without P5 participation by including teams from the new Big East and the A10 for example but it would certainly be more difficult.
