Bringing in HBCU's could add flavor to the schedule.

Even with an empty stadium, they make sitting in the stands pretty exciting.

The HBCU's also provide a pretty good competition level to notch wins, and they'd bring a halftime draw with their elaborate halftime shows.

The bands are great. My wife is a Jackson State alum so i’ve seen The Sonic Boom of the South several times. However, the football is not what it used to be when they could get all of the black players. Even after integration at the big schools they still got good athletes and even the occasional great player (Payton, Rice, etc.). For years Grambling highlights were available on TV in major cities. Jackson State played in a 60K stadium in the state capital and would fill most of it for big games. Those days are gone as they can’t compete with all the powers of the south have to offer. The SWAC and MEAC are just shells of their former selves (mid-to-low FCS).

For whatever reason, I just checked all FBS & FCS attendance. The HBCU attendance - in general - was very healthy. Bodies in the stands.

Then … we dived in 2018. But Tulsa, SMU were less. Nothing too outstanding there. Memphis & Temple have come from nowhere to decent in absolute mammoth stadiums - thus it looks empty.
