I am not sure how I feel about this announcement. On the one hand, the fall has seen a huge spike in cases and hosting indoor events with fans seems like gasoline on a fire. On the other hand, assessing and implementing strategies to get back to a livable situation does have to occur. Can the public follow guidelines to stay safe? Can we identify safe ways to allow groups to come together-masks, temperature readings, apps on phone for distancing, temperature scans along with the ticket are all items being discussed.

Let's be honest, at some point, we will have to figure out what works, is now the time though? Best of luck to SC...

I would prefer it to be students and family only. Students enter separate gates and are significantly separated from family. Family has one dedicated gate and sit (distanced) in one section that is roped off from student contact.

Let's face it, the virus is spreading through all college campuses and students are generally unconcerned about it. Older parents and grandparents have to be more concerned.

We would lose money on this plan, but so what. And it's pennies compared to the 1.25 mill+ in ticket sales we are losing at every home football game..

I've been a season ticket holder for years, but I won't attend this season. I think it's too risky, even with masks required. I know from grocery shopping how many people wear their masks incorrectly or not at all.

mid memory serves, you are about my age and I wouldn’t risk it either. I was invincible at 21 ( I thought.)

I hope NC State's tilt with South Carolina December 3rd will be televised, since there's almost no chance I'll be able to get a seat to see it live.

Not so fast. Given the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases everywhere in the country, I'm not confident that this 3500 fan policy will survive, or is even wise.

Why can't we believe that covid-19 cases can rapidly decrease?

We can believe, and hope, all we want. But until we approach the pandemic collectively and seriously, that's not going to happen. And we have nine months of evidence to that effect.

how does the ACC network coverage of WBB work? I would think that TV coverage can be worked out between ACCnetwork. SECN and ESPN. The ACC and SEC are used to working on TV coverage together in many sports due to the SC, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida fan base overlaps.

this is an inter conference headliner. (KY v Louisville looks like an eye baller too.

I'm going to avoid the discussion around the comment "until we approach the pandemic collectively and seriously".

Probably because, as a country, were not really making a collective effort to make a decrease possible. I wish it were otherwise.

If its a home game.. the ACC Network will show it either on ACCN or the ACCN extra online. I suspect it will either be on ESPN or ESPN2.

It’s in Columbia this year. Pretty confident it will be on SECN or ESPN2. I’m guessing ESPN2. Can’t see them turning down a likely Top 10 matchup featuring the two best centers in WCBB.

The game is in Columbia so likely on SECN or ESPN2. KY and Louisville also are playing each other this year.

See his prior response. LoTrader is not buying that.

What is curious is -SC is going to allow fans and yet the Ivy League CANCELLED their whole season due to the COVID concerns. That seems like a pretty big divide on the situation. One thinks bringing fans in is perfectly ok based on self-quarantining of 3,500 people it does not control, while the other who does control the quarantine for 25 or so students/employees (15 players, 4 coaches and 5-6 support staff) thinks it isn't safe. So, I guess I completely agree with @JonathanXIV on this. Is SC's decision political? Is it practical? Is it reckless for fans and players? Time will tell but I am glad I live in Connecticut.

South Carolina has been pretty aggressive in trying to return things to as close to normal (pre-COVID) as possible; our governor has insisted that a lockdown would do more harm than good. Restaurants now open to 100% capacity and several school districts making the push to 5-day a week in-person classes. So, I guess it's really a matter of what the governor and state leaders feel is the best thing to do for each individual state.

All of that being said...COVID cases are on the rise here. The county where I live has had some record days in the last couple of weeks. It's imperative for people to be as cautious as possible when out in public.

Horry County is moving close to full lockdown for students as well as businesses. The peak season for tourists has passed so it’s a great time to call for it if the cases are continuing to rise. I live in Carolina Forest and a lot of families has decided to completely homeschool their kids and I honestly don’t blame them especially when teachers are getting confirmed cases but still decide to return to the school to teach all while knowing they’re carrying the virus. Some people are being very irresponsible behind this.

Personally, I think if everyone wants to have a season then not having crowds would be better all around.

But there is a huge budget shortfall and now we're firing our football coach so every dollar must help, I guess.
