... but, at 0-for-3 from deep, she does not catch a fair wind. Quite understandable.

She does not look as strong or muscular as she did in her high school highlight reels, and her shooting form looked as if it is not yet fully developed.

But I am still very hopeful.

Hopefully she’ll learn that we want Paige taking the majority of our shots, followed by Westbrook and Williams. Only shoot in the flow of the offense. A Gunner can ruin a good offense in a heart beat.

I'm absolutely sure that Geno must have told her, "If you're open, shoot!" Like all of us, he wants to see her shot -- the form, the speed, and the confidence with which she releases it. At this point, she can't know the offense well enough to know where a pass or a drive should go, so a shot is probably the best offensive contribution she can make. And, it's garbage time so it doesn't really matter.

I'm sure her teammates wanted to get her her first points in a UConn uniform and the coaches probably said to let it fly too. It's a blow out. I for one was happy to see her shooting those, she's obviously confident in her abilities and we could use another player of the bench who can shoot the 3. Looking forward to see how she plays the rest of the year!

Seriously. We were up by a zillion with 2 minutes left. She was wide open. Should still be in high school. I’m glad she shot in those circumstance. I’m guessing it’ll be a while before she’s in a game in a situation. where she needs to think twice about shooting.

She has length. So, she can contribute to this year's team if she can provide some perimeter defense. It was hard to tell in her limited minutes if she has the quickness & aggressiveness to be effective on the defensive end this year. She could also help with rebounding & a spot 3-point shooter.

I was happy to see Saylor play today. She did exactly what her PG said. The shots unfortunately weren't especially close. But trust me, Saylor is a good shooter. She's not Azzi or Paige, but she's a good shooter.

The deflection she made on the attempted DePaul breakaway is part of what she does. I think she was nervous and tentative today. She'll get more comfortable over time. We can't evaluate someone in 2-3 minutes of garbage time.

I think Saylor was amazing. I mean just over 2 weeks ago she was probably home in Frederick County MD watching (or streaming) her Huskies in her woman cave and today she is in Chicago, shooting 3 pointers for her Huskies!!! UFB!!!

Paige told her to shoot whenever she got the ball. She said she doesn't miss in practice. Quoted in the Hartford Courant.
but why didn't Autumn get some playing time in a blowout ?

Geno on Saylor ( in his press conference): "I'm sure she must have been a nervous wreck."

Unfortunately, Christyn's comment at the end was deleted. In her Southern accent, she agreed that Saylor did shoot the ball a lot today.

Actually, Saylor did pass the ball once.

Saylor's outside shot is probably her biggest weakness on offense. I don't know why the media suddenly starting running with the narrative that she's a great shooter. She can certainly make shots from distance, but she's not a specialist.

It was a bit odd to see her chucking like a walk-on who rarely gets time on the court. Her all-around game is what will eventually shine through.

More reaching than running for our Maryland tar. Geno will teach her how to trim her rigging.

OMG, Paige telling Saylor to shoot when she passed her the ball. THAT my friends is a sign of a true leader!! I'm sure she was a little scared being out there for the first time, but with Paige, our floor leader, showing confidence in her and literally telling her to make a play, it should let her feel confident to do so in the future. What we don't need is a player afraid to make something happen, especially if Geno sends her in during a critical part of a game.
