They are athletic. And they forced a lot of turnovers (that was an Oklahoma problem last year too though tbh). They will be desperate. A win over UConn would make up for the Oklahoma loss.

I don't know what to expect from the crowd in New York. Theoretically, it would be a pro UConn crowd. But if there are a lot of Tennessee and Iowa fans there; it could be fans teaming up to root against UConn.

Entertaining game, and UL looks like they have some size.

Go Huskies!
Yes, it won't be easy. UConn will have to score from outside early to loosen up the post. Oklahoma had trouble getting Beers the ball in the post. UConn does not feed the post well, at least not so far this season.

Do you think they are more athletic than Ole Miss?

Relax. UConn is built for these nights, these places, these times. Perfect if LV and Iowa experience what we do and they have great fans. This is our year and Huskies love the City.

I think the bigger question is how does Lville slow down the Big 3? I don’t expect Lville to score much more than 60 pts. I believe UConn will be sky high for this game. Im hoping the NY NJ AAU teams show up. This game could be a great recruiting tool. Coaches in NY NJ are close to Geno

UConn has better players more experienced players and any eyeball test tell you there the better team
Hopefully they’ll put together a good 40 minutes as imho The team is only played really well for portions of the games.

And 29 fouls. Two players fouled out, another had 4 fouls. Get ready for a very physical game
It was a foul filled game on both sides. Louisville 2 players foul out and 2 more with 4 fouls. Oklahoma had 4 players with 4 fouls. Oklahoma won the game on free throws. In the 4th quarter Oklahoma out scored Louisville 29 to 12. What happened to their defense?UCONN will win with their defense in particular and their scoring from an elite team of players. Head to head we will be 20- 6 against them. GO FRESHMEN!!!! GO SOPHOMORES!!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

The core returning from last season’s game is Cochran Harris and Curry. They add is several freshmen who get big minutes: Berry, Randolph, Roberts and Jufferman.

Walz’s freshmen will be tested and I don’t think they can matchup well with our starters or our B team. Cochran may do well against Ice and Jana, but neither Harris nor Randolph can match up with Sarah. And if Azzi is recovered from her flu, their backcourt is going to be toast. And I don’t see who’s going to contain Paige.

This ought to be the perfect bounce back game from the ragged outing against HC. And I don’t think it will be a good bounce back game for Lville.

I agree with this assessment. I watched the game vs Oklahoma. Nothing UL did scares me in the least bit. The Cardinals will be exhausted by the 4th qtr

Cochran had 14 of her 17 points in the 1st half when Louisville built a big lead with OK center Beers on the bench in foul trouble.
True but she only played 26 minutes and did foul out. I admit that I don't know which 14 minutes she spent on the bench or when she fouled out.

First and foremost, never take any team lightly. We are UConn and the target on our backs is very large.

Yes, Louisville has some height but check their stats. Not intimidating. Louisville is still a guard oriented offense. Defensively, can Louisville handle Paige, Azzi, Kaitlyn and Sarah? One on one, I don't think so. Throw in KK, Ash, Jana and maybe Chelli - that's a lot to prepare for.

If UConn does the pressure defense and run the ball, Louisville will be grabbing their shorts by half time.

Whatever else happens, this will be a slappy, scratchy, bumpy game. In that respect, L'ville is a lot like Ole Miss. If Cochrane has a big game, it will be a good challenge.

I’d thought Louisville may have suffered from fatigue, given the collapse in the 4th, but only one player played as much as 30 minites. mI certainly hope they werent’t gassed playing 20-25 minutes. I think the two Oklahoma players who sat much of the first half (Beers and I can’t remember the other) probably made the difference late.

If they were (mentally or physically) fatigued after Oklahoma, UConn will be a rough game for the Cards. OK’s sets are pretty basic; a lot more going on on offense and defense for UConn.

As others have pointed out, there were a lot of fouls called. The game didn’t look more physical to me than most. I thought the refs were kind of whistle happy.

I checked: Oliva Cochran fouled out with 2:21 secs remaining in the fourth
quarter, the score then was 68 - 68! Nyla Harris got her fifth foul for
Louisville with 0:12 seconds remaining in the game.
As noted, many times in this thread protecting the ball was
very important in this game (along with fouls, etc.). In the post-game
"presser", H.C. Jeff Walz made a point of discussing Louisville trouble
with protecting the Ball (early in the game?) and not making those
last minute "stops" and baskets. His comments were something like:
"Credit to Oklahoma... they made the plays... we didn't ".
