I watched every USA 3x3 game and I watch every Quarterfinal game, every Semi-final game, and the Final game. The competition in the Fiba 3x3 world is fierce. Last week was the FIBA WOMENSSERIES, AKA "THE PRO" circuit. This "Pro" circuit includes many National Teams as the Federations for each country prepare for competitions such as next week's FIBA 3x3 Women's World Cup and the women's 3x3 in the Olympics. I was frankly surprised that the USA team made it to the FINALS. I'll reserve judgement as to the team and individual players relative strengths. NOTE #1: All four of the USA players were ranked in the top 12 players in the recent tournament (see the FIBA Stats on the FIBA web site). Our team will have fewer turnovers (INHO) next week and have fewer "mental Breakdowns" (a term used by the FIBA announcer about the USA team). We still may not do as well as we all hope due to the TOUGHER competition in next week's tournament. I forget the exact number but at least four teams who are ranked above the USA will be joining the competition next week. These four teams were NOT in the Tournament last week. NOTE #2: The advanced analytics posted by FIBA at the end of last week's tournament ranked the USA team as the #1 team in the tournament. As they say in the sports world: "You can look it up". So, no demise here, just a need for more practice/experience with regard to the different rules and techniques needed to excellent in this alternate world of BB!
