BIG three point shot. Interesting that Geno had her in the game at that point. I wasn't sure where Saniya was on Geno's "trust" meter. Now we know.

He went 3 guard at the end to better defend the 3. Saniya shined...great to have her back!BIG three point shot. Interesting that Geno had her in the game at that point. I wasn't sure where Saniya was on Geno's "trust" meter. Now we know.
Pretty sure our whoop could be heard from Colchester to MSG.In my humble opinion, Saniya's 3 was the BIGGEST shot of the night. Her three put the game away for UConn.

You guys said it all! Even before she made that 3 pointer, she looked more confident, and seemed to be playing a tighter defense. I feel real happy for her.BIG three point shot. I can only imagine what that shot does for Saniya's confidence-can't wait to see her play in the next couple games!!
We all need to get stronger. Perhaps you get that impression because Phee wreaks havoc on defense and gets her hands on an inordinate amount of tips, near steals and steals, which trigger a lot of scrum-like episodes.Ps: Napheesa needs to get stronger and get some hands. She loses the ball too much
That dagger *3* was dramatic and big, but she also provided composure in our offensive sets, finding open teammates, played excellent perimeter defense (KLS had a tough night in that regard), had a steal and neat lay-up in the second quarter, etc. If she can get that darned injury behind her, she'll make us very very happy to see her back on the court. Sweet night for her . . . and us.

Right now, they're playing for the most part like the freshmen they are. They could have played better, they could have played worse. They'll be fine. Both of them are going to come up BIG in some games down the road for us. The talent is there. We get glimpses of it every once in a while. It will surface at some point. We're all hoping that "some point" comes sooner, rather than later. Geno's got 18 league games now to settle those two down, and get them untracked. Not to mention Natalie Butler. Time now to blend her into the team's fabric. I really enjoyed this game. Normally I just tip the turban to a player or coach in recognition of a job well done. Tonight, I'm taking the turban off for Brenda Frese. For having the guts to accept the invitation to play on the road in the Maggie Dixon against UConn (which has been revealed to us that nobody else would, and that most teams that were asked, shied away), and for having her team ready to play. They were a tough nut to crack. With 3 minutes left to go, it was still anybody's ball game. When was the last time recently you saw that? Maryland gave UConn one heck of a game!!! We won't see another team like that until we see USF and South Carolina. We need those types of games. Those types of contests allow us to "keep that edge". You can't keep that edge winning games by 30-40 points. Games like tonight force UConn to show what kind of intestinal fortitude they have when they can't put a team away, and the degree of guile and "resolve" they can summon in in crunch time. This equates to not quitting, or giving up, and finding a way to win. Great job tonight ladies! Huskie pride, Huskie STRONG!! Now..."it's on to Cincinnati".
