Agreed that was the biggest shot of the night -- Stewie still gets Badass award tho, for how she took over and closed things out on both ends

That dagger *3* was dramatic and big, but she also provided composure in our offensive sets, finding open teammates, played excellent perimeter defense (KLS had a tough night in that regard), had a steal and neat lay-up in the second quarter, etc. If she can get that darned injury behind her, she'll make us very very happy to see her back on the court. Sweet night for her . . . and us.

I think the steal and breakaway layup were really impressive near the end of the first half (?). In contrast to Mo, it looks like Saniya's speed with the ball is pretty much effortless. She was down the door in a flash but was seemingly very calm doing it. To me, Mo is similar speed-wise but looks fast doing it and sometimes has to go 'all out' in order to finish (which she still does very well, obviously).

Saniya Chong needs to hurry up and get healthy so she can get more minutes and contribute like she did tonight in the little time she was on the floor. Thinking in my head now she's ready

Ps: Napheesa needs to get stronger and get some hands. She loses the ball too much

To note only that wonderful shot,
very much understates Saniya's contribution to the victory.
She came in at the end of the first, and was ignored by her teammates...4 on 5
Until she stole a ball, and jetted through the Maryland backfield in the style of Mighty Mo
I recall a lovely assist...all of a sudden she belonged
The 3 had the same effect; the team was struggling a bit.
She comes in and rights the ship.
Go Saniya
Thisjustin, next to me shouted a warm welcome back.
Good on her!

KLS and Pheesa are going through their freshman "period of adjustment". We have to just be patient with them. I don't expect them to play like this next year. Right now, they're playing for the most part like the freshmen they are. They could have played better, they could have played worse. They'll be fine.

Both of them are going to come up BIG in some games down the road for us. The talent is there. We get glimpses of it every once in a while. It will surface at some point.
We're all hoping that "some point" comes sooner, rather than later. Geno's got 18 league games now to settle those two down, and get them untracked. Not to mention Natalie Butler. Time now to blend her into the team's fabric.

I really enjoyed this game. Normally I just tip the turban to a player or coach in recognition of a job well done. Tonight, I'm taking the turban off for Brenda Frese. For having the guts to accept the invitation to play on the road in the Maggie Dixon against UConn (which has been revealed to us that nobody else would, and that most teams that were asked, shied away), and for having her team ready to play. They were a tough nut to crack. With 3 minutes left to go, it was still anybody's ball game. When was the last time recently you saw that?

Maryland gave UConn one heck of a game!!! We won't see another team like that until we see USF and South Carolina. We need those types of games.
Those types of contests allow us to "keep that edge". You can't keep that edge winning games by 30-40 points.

Games like tonight force UConn to show what kind of intestinal fortitude they have when they can't put a team away, and the degree of guile and "resolve" they can summon in in crunch time. This equates to not quitting, or giving up, and finding a way to win.

Great job tonight ladies!

Huskie pride, Huskie STRONG!!

Now........"it's on to Cincinnati".

Agree w most or all of the above- she came back from not playing and came up big for us. This makes us much better an gives a Geno a lot more options in the future!!!! Good for her!!!

Saniya adds another three point threat to the team. If she gets to shoot as many threes as KLS does, I believe she will hit a lot more than KLS is hitting now. Also, most of her drives to the basket are under control.
