NYC and NJ are closed. NYC TV shows Battery Park City about to go underwater. And it's only 9 am.

New York City is a potential New Orleans Part Two.

Hoping they make it through without that coming to pass. :(

The New Jersey shore is getting HAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMERED. That's about 80 feet of Boardwalk. And it has just started.

In Hamden, CT, a friend who lives a half mile a way had an oak tree go through her roof.

Here on the Yard we were posting a couple of years ago how CT was one of the safest states to live. This back to back stuff erases that statement.

High Wind and High Water = Horrific Devastation and that's the forecast.

Its tough to stand in line to wait to get your ass kicked in a few hours. Like a slow motion knock out punch that you see coming but can't duck.

Seems we got lucky, but Sandy busted like Hasheem Thabeet where I'm at (Plymouth). Consistent wind all day and lost power for a little under 6 hours. We had 7 cans of gas ready for the generator, only used half of one.

It was clear this would be bad for Delaware and/or NJ. There was reason for concern for NYC and everyone close to the coast in NY, CT and RI. But the panic throughout CT and MA was crazy. I know the downed trees from wind and loss of power was significant but was it really necessary to shut down all of the highways in the state or to shut flood gates in places like Ansonia?

I was concerned up here in upstate NY because we were supposed to get a direct hit with lots of wind and rain. If I didn't have to pump water out of my basement and we didn't have well water, I wouldn't even have dragged out and tested the generator.

Last year's winter storm on the exact same date was much worse for us in my location in SE Mass. I have two branches down in my yard that are probably 3 feet long each, that's literally it. Power flickered once or twice, no outages. We did lose power at my workplace for several hours.

Hope everyone made it through okay in the harder-hit areas.

Cranbury part pf norwalk is a mess. Trees down everywhere and not a power crew to be seen. Saw 3 different houses within a mile with trees splitting roofs or totally thru houses. No power here easily until the weekend if not later. Its ugly. I imagine sono is flooded and the big stupid boat at the park is prob up on the tracks lol. Stay safe guys. Heard a wire down at nhs burt the road and had a huge fire. Crazy .

We lost two big trees in front yard. Thankfully the gusts were westward or they would have been on the house. We were in the family room chillin' and watched them topple right out the windowed. Scary as . They landed on the power line leading to house but power held. Then power along street zapped 45 minutes later. Went to be at 7pm and was nervous as listening to the 80mph winds. I expect it will take a while for tree companies to call me back.

Finally got to see some NJ damage on TV and now feel fortunate.

In central NJ. Bad. Schools are closed for the week. The house next to mine and 2 doors down each had a tree fall on their houses. 5 doors down a tree broke into 3 pieces and fell onto a house and the people had to get evacuated.
