I'm certainly no expert but Pitt has played no one but Purdue who killed them, and look at their ranking. Maybe this system is too complicated for my brain.

They're not literally 0-1, obviously. Any ranking system that uses statistics can glean information from games played against any level of opponent. Also, a 13 point loss to the #5 in the same system means you can't be #24?

kenpom has them at #32, so same ballpark. Don't see what the issue is.

C'mon. No computer system is perfect. No human system is perfect either. It's a little too much to expect that you won't find an outlier or two. But this seems very fair at this point in the system given the way the teams have actually performed.

I'm sorry but no eyeball can take Purdue seriously. And no computer will see their early March exit coming.

I'm not claiming that Purdue is the real deal, but plenty of professional basketball-watching eyeballs obviously do take them seriously, not just the algorithms.

As an aside, Pitt dismantled Davidson today while this discussion was going on.

The human AP poll has Purdue number 9. The computer has them at 5. Not much difference.
