...this happened Sunday, but I haven't seen it mentioned here yet.

"Sadie Edwards scored a career-high 26 points for the Trojans (17-7, 5-7)"

Boxscore

Good job in a losing cause.

(I know, I know about the spelling. "excellent" and "separate" are the two words that continuously defeat my spelling ability, despite 60 years of recognizing how often I do it wrong. And the darned forum software won't let me fix it :( )

Excellent individual statistics including 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks and over 50% shooting - but as was commented a number of times last night by the ESPM analysts, the box score does not tell you everything. This comment was emphatically repeated after Mo stole and in-bound pass, was fouled (not called) as she and the SC player fell to the floor and ultimately it was SC ball. The point is heart is not in the statistics and UCONN players all have heart. When a player leaves UCONN they are always reasons, most we probably never know, but I do believe that if a player truly a has the burning desire to be the best team they do not leave UCONN. It is a natural weaning process: if you do not have the heart to throw your body with abandon on a loose ball over and over, then UCONN is not the place for you, and you may not realize that until you arrive in Storrs and experience it first hand. Ego must be left at the door before approaching the TEAM alter. My inference, no proof, is that Sadie knew she was not going to fit in once she gave it a try.

I'll probably be considered mean and cold-hearted, but I don't share any warm, squishy feelings for those kids who enroll at UConn and transfer out before breakfast. While I harbor absolutely no ill-will towards Boykin and Edwards, I could care less about their successes (or failures).

My interest in following Engeln and Samarie Walker ended the moment they left campus.

I do, however, care a great deal about Brianna Banks, as I follow her career at PSU and wish her only success and happiness.

People on the board have been back and forth on this topic since the beginning of the board. Reaching a crescendo with the EDD situation of course. I suspect Sadie may garner more interest as she was born in CT. High schooled in NJ but there's an attraction to her story nonetheless.

This is why I love Chong so much. She can be a starter in most of the top 25 teams.
But she shows her loyalty to UConn, And, have never heard her complaints being on-off bench.

This is by no means an attack on you JRRJ as I think you meant well but just my honest opinion:). My guess is you had not seen it here before your post is because nobody cares. All the student athletes recruited by schools are young and in the different stages of life thus prone to making mistakes. Having said that any player being recruited to UCONN in this day and age has played the sport at a very high level this being on travel teams AAU etc. They obviously had their visits and met the team and should know what to expect. This on the court and in the classroom. It leaves me sad in one respect and bitter in another when they drop out. I feel bad for both parties.
Many do not think of the money and time spent on the recruit and more important to myself the prospective player that was told the position has been filled and had to go to their second choice. Who knows what they might have turned into here? I hold no serious hatred toward any of the transfers I simply feel more compassion for the team and the ones that know what the word means.
The saddest part of this story is Sadie makes headlines for scoring 26 points but may have made the wrong decision twice. She is in a program that stinks because both starting guards are academically ineligible. Another in my archives of things you can't make up.
