Saban P5 only playoff

This is not new idea but part of an ongoing market control plan, and these trial balloons are part of the process to prime the sports world for this ultimate outcome. The only hope is getting to expanded football playoffs which will counter P5 arguments for exclusive representation. That's also why there is nearly illogical resistance to moving to an 8 team format, or 16 team format. There are more than enough weeks to make that happen.

If we went to 32 teams we would see upsets in the first round, and a lot of lower ranked P5 teams walking home early, to the point where top to bottom strength in the P5 is proved to be a myth.

If they went to a 12-16 team tournament the myth would be blown up within a couple of years.

It's de facto rather than de jure, at this point.

Though I happen to believe that an undefeated AAC team or, maybe, a MWC team could get in under the right circumstances

Houston would have very likely gotten in had they gone undefeated 2 years ago.

Wow, they are talking about the RS as well as bowls. At some point, Congress will have to step in to prevent this blatant market manipulation. And when does it go to P4?

This will happen, except it will be a P4 when it happens. Folks, forget about expansion, a contraction is more likely. UConn needs to make sure our football and basketball is playing well so we at least have the opportunity to be in the conference with the leftovers from the P5 contraction and the best of the rest. This must be UConns main focus.

Didn't help Boise State get in during their 4 year run when they only lost three games between 2009 and 2012.

Only 2 teams got in back then. Boise likely would've been in during at least two of those years

If Houston had gone undefeated last year, they almost certainly would have been in over Washington

1. They were only undefeated once (and only played 1 P5 team that year)
2. There was no 4 team playoff

They would tilt it so teams outside the P5 always played the top 4 teams in the country in Rd 1.
