I'll post the leaderboard later today when the matches are listed.

A little of this and a little of that.

Friday and Saturday TV
Starts at 7:00 USA channel all morning...alternate shot matches.
NBC all afternoon...4 ball matches...best ball

Sunday: singles matches...starts at noon...NBC.

Last 11 Ryder Cups: Europe 8 USA 3....yikes!
Europe has dominated at home 6-0...many matches one sided.
USA 3-2 at home...this year home at Bethpage Black course in NYC area.

We tend to do poorly in alternate shot matches. In 2023 we lost in Rome by 5 points overall.
In alternate shot matches [8 points...4 Friday 4 Saturday] we lost 6 and 1/2 to 1 and 1/2...gee I wonder
why we lost.

Hope we get some Boneyard golf fans to offer their takes over the weekend...especially if we get someone to
be a spectator actually on the grounds.

Several Ryder Cup rookies on our team....including our very own TonyC's golfing buddy Cameron Young...Cameron
grew up in the metro area and is very familiar with the course.

Captain Keegan Bradley is getting a lot of praise for the way he is prepping our team. He has a very fiery
demeanor and I bet the metro NYC crowd will be up for this bigtime...wonder if the combo just might be too much
for necessary composure and focus for our players.

Uhhh...I made a bogey in the first post....maybe more than one.

Morning paper has USA channel televising all day Friday....no NBC.

NBC has all of Saturday and Sunday...no USA.

Lotsa luck playing golf today for the Junior Ryder Cup. My daughter out qn Eastern LI said there's a possibility of tornados today (Thursday). Doesn't sound like good golf weather. Also, miserable here in CT. Yankees tonight, I dunno...

As much as I’ll be pulling for the US, I think the mental strength of the Europeans plus their continuity from 2 years ago (11 of 12 players back) will be too much of a challenge to overcome. They seem to really put 100% of themselves into this event every time…I’m not sure if the US squad is as fully invested.

Captain Bradley is...for sure...fully invested. He wouldn't say otherwise but he has had a lot to say
about how the players are super motivated as well. Just an 'imo': I truly think if they don't play well it will be due
in part to feeling too much pressure to perform. The USA team is favored and I bet the Euro captain is using that to
portray to his players about being an underdog...lack of respect etc.

Alternate shot [foursomes] matches for early Friday. Scroll down and you can see who
has been paired with who.

First Impression: first match....going off at 7:10...will be dynamite.
Second impression: there will always be 4 players who don't play in a session.
I'm disappointed that Cameron Young is sitting Friday morning out.
I hope that all 12 players play on Friday...in both alternate shot and best ball or at least in one of them.

I would think Captain Bradley would not want any player to sit out all day.

Given our history of poor alternate shot play I would think a 2-2 split Friday morning would be OK.

USA golfers are so vested in medal play from a young age that they mostly struggle with both better ball and alternate shot - unused to playing as a teammate. Europeans and international players in general play foursome/better ball golf more and are more used to allowing a teammate to shine. Even match play is more foreign to USA golfers, but at least they are playing just for themselves. Steady play is not as prized in medal play.

Poor start for the USA in alternate shot. 1-3. The 3 Euro wins were routs....USA pairs were not
competitive....including the one with Sheffler. The late win by USA maybe gives them some
momentum for best ball matches this afternoon. Sheffler needs to lead his pair to a win early for more
momentum. Get 2 and 1/2 wins to cut into the margin...3-1 to tie. If Euros extend their margin we might well
be in serious trouble. Euros took NYC crowd out of it with early success this morning.

Disappointing results this morning...also disappointing in terms of entertainment.
Only good thing...a long/long way to go.

Four ball play: Europe 2 and 1/2....USA 1 and I/2.
Euros lead 5 and 1/2 to 2 and 1/2.

Better ball allowed more aggressive play....higher quality for both sides....entertaining.

Best player on the course today: Jon Rahm

Best American player: Cantwell.

Best individual round from either team: Cameron Young. Played brilliantly leading his pair to easy win.
He loves the course....played many times....huge NY fan favorite. Only played in four ball.

Bradley has to put him out 2 times tomorrow...same for Cantwell. Sheffler has not played well but he is #1 in the
world and he has to go twice tomorrow as well.

USA in some trouble...win tomorrow by a point or two and they have a shot with the singles on Sunday.

Europe putted great all day pretty much. USA had no answer for Jon Rahm.

Cantley (Cantwell?) played ok, but the mishit on 18 and the missed 3.5 ft putt on 13 would have given them the lead was concerning, especially since they played even the rest of the way.
Stinking up the course- Henley and Griffin. No help at all from either, embarrassing. Feel sorry for Keegan, he deserves better.

Bald Husky: That missed putt you refer to did hurt. But he led his pairing to our only
point in the morning...made several clutch putts in the afternoon...and did get 1/2 point in that
match....so he was involved with 1 and 1/2 points...out of our total of 2 and 1/2. Nobody on the USA played great...except
for Cameron in his only round. Glad Bradley has him starting off in first match Saturday.

Your first statement has been true for 50 years. What have we done about it? Nothing. The classic idea that Europeans (Scots) play in all conditions and 3 hour rounds. We like fair weather golf and 5-6 hour rounds. Do the math! Why aren't our youngsters learning the game with alternate shot (scotch) and match play? Less frustration and teamwork.
Maybe we don't care about the Ryder Cup as much as the Euros do.

Foursomes over. We needed to cut into the Euro lead of 3 points....but they expanded it to
5 points. We again played poorly in the foursomes....lost 3-1. They lead 8 and 1/2 to 3 and 1/2.
I figure we need at least a 3-1 margin in the better ball this afternoon to get to the Sunday finals with some kind of realistic shot.

Young and DeChambeau won fairly easily [4 and 2] for our only point. They meshed well...my bet is that Bradley will keep them together and send them off first in the better ball. Both DeChambeau and Young made a lot of clutch putts...for the first time the Euro pair missed some very makeable putts. Tee to green both teams were good...we outputted them.
Glad to see TonyC's golf buddy doing so well. Overall at this point he has been our best player.

We still have no answer for Jon Rahm...he is 3-0 this Cup but his career record is simply amazing. Actually he got some help from his partner this morning. Scheffler is 0-3...but he is merely one of our problems.

Hoping for 9 and 1/2 to 6 and 1/2 result come Saturday evening.

I don’t know of anyone who likes 5 or 6 hour rounds. Had to many of them on Bethpage course when first playing golf.

Game. Set. Match.

What an embarrassing performance.

I was a walking scorer for the Travelers Championship the last 15 years, which means I walked with the players on the fairway for the entire round. The fairways at the TPC were better than a lot of greens I play on at various courses. I think the Americans are too used to these kinds of courses, while the Europeans do play in some not pristine fairways, pot bunkers, and very bad weather at times. We are soft, and by the way, maybe getting paid this time around was what they really wanted over the competition. As I said before, Keenan Bradley didn't deserve this and most of them should be ashamed. Worse performance ever.

I have similar sentiments. Don't forget Europe is playing great!
But one thing we do better than anyone is long, straight drives, and high iron shots player for player.
Bethpage is playing soft. We need tight fairways, with tough rough, sloping greens, hard and fast.
Americans almost always win the US Open. We have many US Open champions on our team. Europe- Rory, that's it, right? We killed Europe at Kiawah Island. They couldn't keep the ball on the greens. Players growing up in Europe on slower surfaces.
We're the home team. Don't we set up the course? Everybody is just shooting darts. The Euros are making the putts.

I think once the Euros get to 14 points they should concede the other matches, before one of those so-called fans says something that really pisses off Sepp Straka.

Now we are down 4 and 1/2 to 11 and 1/2. Thoroughly outplayed both from tee to green and especially
in putting. 12 points today..12 singles. Would need 10 of 12 to actually win. Would not bet on that. BTW in terms
of betting the USA was favored before it all began...some bucks were made with an appropriate wager.

Looking hard to find a little props. Behind all day in the four ball JJ Spaun played well down the stretch leading his pair to a win. His birdie on 18 got them our only point in the afternoon. Rahm missed a 10 footer to tie on 18 so he did...finally...lose a match. It actually looked like we would go 0-4 in the afternoon for quite a while.
