Men - Ryan Daniels to Minnesota Twins in 11th Round (#329) | The Boneyard

Men Ryan Daniels to Minnesota Twins in 11th Round (#329)

Pick 314 is slotted at 164K. Any chance he returns?

-> “I don’t think he just deserves to be drafted,” Penders said. “I think he deserves to be taken in the top five rounds. That hit tool that he has is very rare. He loves to play. He has an unbelievable personality and vibrance to him. Everyone is drawn to him, because he has a real dynamism that I put a really high value on.” <-

-> …“I am more than happy to go back to UConn,” Daniels said. “That is my place. I love it there. I have been here all summer still. You really can’t get me out of this place. When people ask me what I am doing or if I would go back to school or if I don’t get picked what happens? I always say that I won’t even be sad.

“I will go back to UConn for another year, and we will try again next year. I am super excited for whatever happens. If it is UConn, I will be just as excited as I would for a professional baseball opportunity.” <-

Based on the above statements by Daniels, yes I think there is a chance he might return to UConn baseball next season, but we will see what happens. The MLB draft is certainly a big thing for players who get selected in the draft.

they don't pick him in the 11th round unless they knew he would sign. They had an hour break between rounds 10-11 so this was hashed out for sure.

According to the above article, Ryan Daniels is going pro after getting taken in the MLB draft. Here is a piece of the article.

The reigning Big East Player of the Year will forgo his senior season at UConn to begin his journey in the pros after putting together a tremendous year in Storrs.

-> Now that the draft is over, things will start to move quickly, beginning with Daniels going to Florida. “I’m going to head down later this week, do the physical and sign the contract,” he said. “Then I’ll go to a mini camp with all the other guys who got drafted, and then they’ll ship us out to wherever they think we’re best fitted for, whether that’s Low A, High A, or maybe stay at the complex league for some people... <-

-> UConn is a place that will remain close to his heart. It’s a place he’ll always be able to call home and eventually, he’ll also be able to call himself a graduate.

“It’s definitely the most special place I’ve ever been,” he said. “I'm here right now…you can't get me out of this place. I came to grab all my stuff, and I'm actually going to finish school here. Next fall, I'll be living at UConn, training here, and going to school in the off-season. It's just been a really special place for me. It's allowed me to meet my best friends ever, people that I'll talk to for the rest of my life, and the coaches who have become friends of mine now. I mean, they're coaches, they're adult figures, obviously, but they're family and friends to me now. I owe them a lot for everything they’ve done for me.” <-
