One interesting point -- each of these buildings has someone's name attached to it. So many of our UConn buildings were paid for by the state. The fundraising operation in Storrs is far away from where it should be.

Purdue just made Jeff Brohm the third highest paid football coach in the B1G, behind Michigan and Penn State.

These Big Ten schools are really throwing their money around now. We’ll see if it leads to success.

Lovie Smith at pitiful Illinois makes close to what Brohm makes ....but hasn't done much yet for the Illini (record 9-27)

And Scott Frost, Nebraska, makes $5 million, also close to Brohm....in Frost's first year, the Huskers went 4-8....so the jury is still out.

Does paying big money for coaching make for a successful team?

Yes....and sometimes no.

What money does is it attracts names and keeps who you want. It allows more options than teams that don’t. What you do with that money is all up to you.

BTW - The Lovie Smith here was routinely laughed at by most B10 fans. Illinois has always been . . . Well . . . Illinois. The only school (not including Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland) to have a longer B10 football Championship drought is Indiana. Even Minnesota has had a championship since Illinois last had one.

Purdue's total Assistant's Salaries for 2018 was $3,465,000.

Kind of mid range...

Behind Clemson, FSU, Louisville, Virginia Tech and NC State in the ACC...(Pitt, Boston College, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Duke Assistant Total are not reported by USA Today).

Behind Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State in the Big Ten (Northwestern unreported),
