OT: Rutgers fires coach...CD a possibility?

Curious to see who takes over the program and which up and coming top 100 recruit wants to say or thinks "Rutgers is the program for me and I can help turn that program around" because it is going to take a truly remarkable coach to help turn the Rutgers program around. Or, like a lot of programs in WBB, Rutgers could become a program that just exists.

It says there is a training facility there, but not sure how "good" it is. Without resources, the state university of New Jersey won't be able to compete in the current market with NIL and all that.

RU is in a great conference (Big 10), but is dead last, 1 game behind Northwestern. Even if they hired a dynamic coach (@Blakeon18 mentioned 5 including Berube and Bozella from Seton Hall), but why would Carla want that job? She's done great at Princeton, and unless RU ponies up resources, it's a dead end job.

Other than being 15 or 20 miles from Rutgers, there is absolutely zero benefit for Carla to jump to Rutgers that I can see.
 
This thread is a great diversion until we can start talking about UConn’s starting five for next year. Are we all ready for that topic?

Not wanting to put more fire on this thread, but how about another
unfounded/untrue rumor. Chris Daily in New Jersey, not in
New Brunswick or East Brunswick but in OLD BRIDGE, N.J.
(This is the same geographic area as ST. John Vianney H.S.
Holmdel, N.J.). What is the connection? Madison St. Rose,
senior guard of Princeton U is a graduate of St. John Vianney H.S.
and she is entering the Transfer portal to
complete her WBB eligibility (injured for one year, she
has an extra year coming, think Ms. Chen!). Madison St. Rose's home
town is OLD BRIDGE, which is northeast of East Brunswick and
East / South-east of NEW BRUNSWICK (RUTGERS) and not far
from Princeton. Maybe
C.D. is "visiting" to get some background material or
visit some "new" family friends of the St. Rose family? Or
a quick visit to see Carla B.?? and talk about this former
FRESHMAN of THE YEAR at Princeton. Just an idea, just for fun.

I'll nit for the hey of it - Old Bridge is at most East, and mostly South East of East Brunswick. Although Old Bridge covers a pretty big footprint if I remember correctly (East Brunswick isn't tiny either). And Princeton is in another direction entirely.

I loved living in Jersey. Union, East Brunswick and South Bound Brook. And nothing too far apart.

Your piece is otherwise very imaginative.
 
Pitt.and Penn State have open coaching jobs. Do any of the assistants go for those opportunities?

The RAC is a fun arena to watch a game. That angled roof does make it incredibly loud if there is a big crowd. I'm not sure that Rutgers has that kind of following particularly for women's basketball
 
Since 2020, the Rutgers athletic department has had 3 years with an operating deficit of $70 million or more. In the 12 years since joining the Big Ten, they’ve lost more than $516 million.

Even if Rutgers wanted to spend the money to bring women’s basketball up to snuff, I doubt they have the ability to do so.

Not sure I’d want to be their coach under the circumstances.

I'm a NJ ex-pat. Not many people I know say "I love living in Jersey". After living in CT for 38+ years, every time I go back I say to myself, who in their right mind lives here?

The popular sport in NJ is on the GS parkway where people in the slow lane will go to the on ramp, zoom ahead 4 or 5 car lengths, and then merge back in. That would get you shot in CT. 😊

FYI, nothing in NJ covers a large footprint, but then nothing in CT does either.

As they say: "It was just for fun!" BTW: My hometown was in Middlesex
County, N.J. One of my best friends lives in OLD BRIDGE and we frequently
played against teams from New Brunswick, East Brunswick, and I lived for
over two years in Princeton. I guess I will just have to recheck how the
map of New Jersey has changed. My sister went to UNION JUNIOR COLLEGE
and I had a friend who lived in the Watchung Mountains area, (north of Bound Brook!). We were almost NEIGHBORS! Imagine that!

SO TRUE. I lived off EXIT 131 on "the Parkway". I am also "FROM" New Jersey.
My wife lived "on the Jersey Shore". I agree with your fond recollection of

Exit 10 off of Exit 10 of the Turnpike for over 20 years. Growing up, it was exit 140(ish) of the GSP, depending on which way we wanted to go. We usually got off in Kenilworth, because my parents didn't like the next exit, which actually was less than a mile from our house.

Incidentally, growing up we lived on the "free" section of the GSP, but the truth was the only thing it really felt was free was the exits. If you were driving straight through, you had a toll at the start of the "free" section and a toll at the end of it, so, um, really.

NJ was home and we visit once a year, typically, when we head east in May for our nephew's birthday (13 this year, I think) - they live near Harrisburg, PA. In the 15 years since we left, huge changes driving Route 22, around Newark Airport, etc. while some things remain the same. Including the traffic.
 
I also read that Carly Thibault-Dudonis turned down an interview with Rutgers…
