"Rudy Gay joins the Huskies of Honor on the wall, Saturday night before the game against Syracuse"

I wonder if he will be in attendance... gotta go check nba schedules
Did not put together that allstar weekend was this weekend even though I've been mourning the death of the dunk contest all morning on youtube. It's the all-star game, and he wasn't invited...So i'd guess yes.
I think Caron and Ben should be up there ahead of Rudy, but I am not in charge of these decisions, unfortunately. Is Ben Gordon still not up there? He should be on there ahead of Rudy.
Look at the rosters those two years. You won't find as many really good UConn players on any team (except 2004...maybe).13.5 pts, 6 reb for 2 years gets you in? Must be some other number thats more important.
Per Kyle Muncy on twitter: Ben Gordon and Jeff Adrien are being inducted next year. Would have been inducted Saturday but couldn't make it.
Before this goes off the rails onto a Rudy hate-fest: he deserves to be in, and it isn't up for debate. Watch the games.
If 2006 Rudy was on this UConn team, he would have averaged 25 and 12. Easily. He was on a loaded team.
Not arguing that he wasnt a fine talent. but how do you think he distinguished himself? I thought that was the purpose behind the wall of honor? Before Butler?
Not assertive enough.
I don't think so, but I'd concede he is a borderline case. i think they really need to set some higher standards though if he and Adrien are in. Good players both, but neither was a great in my estimation. Even Gordon...he was the 2nd guy on the 2004 team behind Emeka. Seems to me for the old timers they have standards. For the more recent guys if you did anything they give you the honor. Who picks these guys anyway?Per Kyle Muncy on twitter: Ben Gordon and Jeff Adrien are being inducted next year. See I don't think any of those guys, except Gordon who to me is another borderline guy, belongs as a Husky of Honor. Thabeet was big and had a good final season but he never was the dominant center exeryone expected. Price? Uh no...a guy that gets suspended for stealing doesn't get to go up there unless he saved 15 lives from a fiery inferno...sorry. Anbd williams was a better point guard anyway and he ain't getting up there for thesame reason. Charlie V was a bench player during the Championship season and really didn't distinguish himself in 2005. he was the best player on a pretty good team. Boone goes in the same catagorey, plus the 2006 George Mason game ought to disqualify most of those guys, Rudy included. Is that a tough call? Yeah, but they lost a game they shouldn't have to a team that was nowhere near their equal because they didn't give a crap.Honestly, it seems UConn got a tad lazy with the wall of honor for a long time. They inducted: a number of players and 3 coaches at one time then didn't induct anyone until Kemba Walker.
There are a number of players that could go on the wall, Rudy being one of them. It probably is more scheduling than anything else that dictates when they go up. With the explosion of talent and success in the past 15 years there are a lot of noteworthy players: Adrien/Price/Thabeet from the 2009 team, Boone/Charlie/Gordon from 2004, El-Amin/Freeman from 1999 that could be considered (though not all taken, for the wall), not to mention Caron.

If that's the purpose, just call it "UCONN Players in the NBA" I think it was intended for guys who had special carreers at UCONN, regardless of what they did in the NBA or for that matter whether they ever played. Guys who made major contributions to UCONN basketball. I guess I would give a nod to Gordon as much for the fact that he played on the 2004 Champs as anything else. You look at the guys who are there now, they all were the best palyer on their team, and arguably a guy like Donyell changed the view of UCONN as far as being a place where elite players could go. You want to start putting up these 2nd tier guys, next thing you know they'll be announcing Selvie will be enshrined next year. Can't hurt to add another guy with a successful NBA career to the wall, especially when recruits come through.
