It's a smart move by both.

Only aspect of this that potentially appeals to me is the possibility of seeing Kansas at the Dunk.

I thought the AAC was better than the Big East.
Nelson Basketball has been ignored for the first 4 years as something that’s fills that void between football seasons. That was detrimental to the upper level teams in the league.
Mr Aresco did a lousy job of promoting that sport.
The sad thing is it had great potential as selling point to the league.
Whether it can be salvaged or not remains to be seen.
But adding ECU as a full member before they had established any basketball credibility.
was a huge mistake. I don’t see Tulane and Tulsa as anywhere near as detrimental.
I’m still looking for 1-2 basketball onlies.
and If Army wants to get back in the game adding them would be great as a football only.
Alternating annual Army Navy home games with short away games would be a great attraction.

It will probably be Kansas Nova every year.

Nah. They are playing this year. I think the challenge will circulate the teams no matter who is best. I do think KU will avoid the bottom of the NBE, meaning I've got at least a chance.

Well you aren't getting him. But in conference challenges, KU has no say in who they play. They will likely be matched against the top 4 or so teams. Nova leads the way, with Butler, Xavier and PC generally more likely to be decent in a given season than the rest. Maybe Seton Hall. I'm still waiting for GTown, St. Johns or Marquette to actually resume playing good basketball. DePaul and Creighton suck.

KU has Nova at Allen Field House this year without any challenge in place.

Saw an early preview that had Marquette finishing 2nd (and PC not doing well). So I assume they have a decent squad. I'm talking over time, not next year. Creighton is a bottom half school in the NBE. Just means they won't play KU is all.

I'm just looking for a meaningful game at the Dunk, because it's close and easy.
