Nice story w/UConn/RE mention:

>>There was no shortage of scouts lining up to recruit Robert during his tenure at Patuexent. After the long college process that most high school grads go through, he eventually chose to put on his pads for the University of Connecticut Huskies. Robert’s reasoning for selecting UConn was based on UConn’s “staff and their growing football program.” Was it difficult to reach this decision? McClain stated that “it wasn’t a hard decision. I saw a program that fit what I wanted. I don’t regret my decision for choosing UConn. It is great academically and I learned how to be a man through Coach Edsall’s philosophies he taught us and through his work ethic.” His connection to Edsall, now coaching at the University of Maryland, is something that Robert McClain has maintained throughout his pro career.
When asked to speak about Edsall specifically, Robert continues to praise Edsall’s ability to forge a path for him as an athlete. A true mentor. “I do keep in touch with Coach Edsall, recounted McClain. “When I go home, the University of Maryland is 35 minutes from my residence, so I stop by to talk football and thank him every year for developing me into the player I am today.”<<
