This is an awesome honor. Its really nice to see that both Rip and Caron will have their greatness acknowledged in the near future. Do any other alums have NBA jerseys retired? I imagine Ray is too recent...

Been waiting for this. Sheed must be up next , he's the acquisition that turned them into a special team.

Pretty awesome to have an alum jersey hanging he is the first .

This says a lot about the respect and influence RIP has with his teammates. I applaud Chauncey as he didn't have to say anything since it was his night. Would have probably happened anyway but this is what teammates friends do:

Chauncey Billups campaigned for it on Wednesday night before his jersey was retired and pulled to the rafters.

“Rip has to be next,” Billups said, during a press conference before the game. “I would love for him to be next week, next month. Rip Hamilton holds so many records here. He had a long run here. He did a lot of great things in the community here. I’m looking forward to that day.”

That's outstanding. I've always thought Rip was our most underrated Husky and Husky alum. He was an alpha scorer, but he did it within the flow of the offense. The impact of a guy like that on a team is huge. I don't think there's any way the Pistons do what they did if they hadn't substituted Rip for Stackhouse.

Who would retire Ray's jersey/number? OKC? Milwaukee? Miami?

Boston too.

The problem is he played 6.5 years with the Bucks, 4.5 years with Seattle, 5 years with the C's, and 2 years with the Heat.

His best years were with Seattle, but he won a championship with Boston, and with Miami. Longest tenure was with Milwaukee, but didn't accomplish anything of note.

Can he go into the HOF in a UConn jersey?

Boston already has too many numbers retired and Ray didn't have the best exit. Of all those teams, I'd say Boston is the least likely to put his name in the rafters.

You don't think of Ray as a journeyman, but he kind of was, oddly enough. I really think of him as a Buck and Sonic. So, by process of elimination, Buck?

Nobody moved better without the ball and an argument could be made for best mid range shooter of all time.
