Former WSU and UW women’s basketball coach June Daugherty dies at 64

Its a sad day as a very respectable coach passed away. Daugherty coached at Boise State, Washington, and Wazzu, with her 2000-2001 squad at Washington falling just short of the Final Four to Jackie Stiles SW Missouri State. Daugherty restored Washington State to respectability after leaving Washington.

I’d always respected her teams and she bought some of the all time greats in Cougar history to campus in Borislava Hristova and the Molinas.

Oh man!! Very sad news indeed. I remember her Washington Huskies squads, especially that 2001 squad. Heck of a coach. Going to be greatly missed. Hopefully the Washington Huskies and Washington State honor her properly.

Sorry to hear. I was at a Washington State game (in Tucson) her last season while she was on leave and her husband was coaching.

Quite successful at Washington, Washington State not so much.

My condolences. Thank you June Daugherty for giving the Molina sisters, Lia Galdeira, Cameron Fernandez, and Jaz Awa the opportunity for Hawaii players to play D1 basketball especially in a P5 conference.

That hit me hard when I heard the news. Sad day for basketball fans in the Northwest, as well as elsewhere.
