"(A lack of rhythm) is a lot of things," Auriemma said. "You just haven't played a lot of basketball and it's three ACLs. I'm just happy she's playing. Anything beyond that, then I'm really grateful for and so is everybody else on the team. Just having her out there is a huge bonus for us.''

I read these articles about Caroline, and tears drip from my eyes. . . . every time.

She was a really gifted basketball player. And a wonderful athlete. And she loved the game as much as any Uconn player I have ever seen.

Lady Luck just dealt her a terrible hand. And so much raw talent has simply been shuttered.

I admire Caroline's courage and determination to still be the best she can be -- but it is so much less than once it was. She has dealt with her tragedy with lots of class in public; but I'm certain there are too many moments in her life when she must feel incredibly sad, and mad, and limited.

I hope she wins another Championship ring.

It's certainly unfortunate, but I don't feel too bad for her. She's a smart, very pretty young woman who comes from what seems like a close-knit family. She got to live her dream of playing CBB at the highest level, and was the starting PG on one of the most dominant WCBB teams of all time. If she wants to coach or broadcast, I imagine she'll have those opportunities available to her. If not, I have no doubt she'll be successful in whatever she does choose to do with her life.

And I agree with Geno that just having her out there is a big deal. Not only is she getting to play, but her presence has to be a check on younger players dealing with the demands Geno puts on his players. If she can do it on one leg, so can you. You're tired? Think about what Caroline's been through to even be on the court with you. That sort of thing.

Anyone who saw her play at Germantown or in AAU can not help but feel for Caroline and the loss she has had to deal with. She played the game with unabashed joy and passion and a ferocious spirit. One can still see that core today but it is greatly restricted by the realities of the body. I expect it will take time but that amazing spirit will not be squashed and will emerge triumphant. Playing ball at the highest level is always only a temporary condition life and it's possibilities stretch out so much farther. Few of us have ever been where Caroline has already gone I suspect even fewer will travel where that spirit of here's will take her. God bless her every step of the journey.

When I watch the games, especially the real competitive ones, like ND and Baylor, I do feel badly for Doty. You could see the fire in her eyes and sense the intensity going through her. I think, boy the opponent doesn't even know, this girl would have their lunch. Doty is not all that vocal but just having her out on the floor is important. I also think that it is just a matter of time that even with her limitations she will be contributing more to the offense. Some of her misses, especially missed layups, look to me like she is pressing too much. I look forward to her playing next year as well.
