That's what I thought
Sheesh, I thought DoggyDaddy was being traded to Tennessee ;)

That was my first thought too.
I, on the other hand love it.
Now they may come back hat in hand begging us for a game.
And all I can think of is Phil Sheriden; "smash em up, smash em up."

This "report" was mentioned in another thread. There are some who are disputing its accuracy. We'll see.

If true, it'd be a great pickup for the LVs. Certainly, there would be quite a combination of talent by the 2015-16 season. Whether team chemistry is good in all of this would be an open question.

If true, she would be the 15th scholarship player on the roster. And one would wonder how it will effect the other players (i.e. - SF J. Nared) who will be freshman who thought they'd have minutes which would evaporate for the known star in DD.

I would still put them significantly behind UConn, ND and SC in the 2015-16 pecking order.

not sure I would use the word significantly? I think if Tenn with their recent and future talent, had Geno, Muffet, Tara or Gary- I think they might be pre season ranked #1 with DD. Her knees will be well rested and she'll be two yrs older. She's a prolific talent.

Tenn was my gut all along with this transfer issue. Big following like Uconn and relatively close to home.

Great pickup from a talent point of view. Also that puts them in the driver's seat for top 5 recruit T'ea Cooper. They seem to be stockpiling talent again as having Deshields and Russell (everything else being equal) seems like it would tip the balance of power back to Tennessee once Stewart and Jefferson graduate. Of course, UCONN will have a lot to say about that as they recruit the 2015 class, which by all accounts, looks like it could be a class for the ages...

However, it remains to be seen what the chemistry will look like in Tennessee.

If DD transfers to Tennessee...she will have to sit out a year. She will effectively be a Junior... My guess is she will play two years at Tennessee and jump to the WNBA and Europe to play professionally. She will be old enough and she will be eligible.

Exactly- and an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Team chemistry is an underrated commodity. Once you have a certain talent level, great chemistry > more talent. No matter what, only 5 players can see the floor at one time.

Well, you don't just don't get handed your minutes. You have to earn them. Everybody has to be prepared to be recruited over.

By team chemistry I mean disrupting what the rest of the team is trying to do. If she wants the ball in her hand much of the time and is a selfish player from a team perspective, it will be easier to shut them down. I don't disagree that minor disruptions are no big deal - after all most UCONN fans watched Napier shove Boatright in the NC game because Ryan wasn't where Bazz wanted him.

Now, if everyone on the Tennessee roster defers to Diamond, then no problems at all. But it remains to be seen how they mesh all of that together.

I doubt that will happen. UT has other top recruits and I can't see them all deferring to DD.

The Tennessee system has always accommodated a player that takes pretty much whatever shot she likes. Chamique, Candace, more recently Simmons have taken that role without disrupting what the team tries to do offensively. Rather it becomes what the team tries to do. I think Diamond can take that role successfully, and this in one step puts the LVs back in play as NC contenders.

True enough but a perception, fair or not, that someone 'cut in line' can be devastating to chemistry.

Tennessee has had great players in the past,
And sometimes, occasionally it was enough to prevail.
I just don't see it now.
Splendid players game's are going South as we speak. :)
Others never develop.
It doesn't seem like a great moment to be at Tennessee.

Sometimes, occasionally? Geno barely passed Summitt for titles and he has nine of them!

I despise all things TN and orange (you too Cuse), but they have done a lot of winning down there.

Whether this works out, IDK. But I do know that 100% of all TN fans are happy if she matriculates. They should be.

Remember any talent TN would have will be coached by Holly Warlick!
!

It's only a soap opera if you make it in to one. It's a (single) transfer. Perhaps inexpertly handled, but a transfer nonetheless.

There have been numerous NBA teams to disprove your premise. It may not be everything but it is important. You may not need great chemistry but you cannot have negative or acidic chemistry.
