Hear me out. Yes, this loss to SH was horrendous. As a Xennial, I remember the 2011 Kemba season miraculous run to the NC (They had 9 losses that season, and as I recall only got into the tournament bc they won the BE tournament). Do I think this team can do the same and win the NC? Realistically not, but who knows? I’ve been shocked before (the first time literally is the reason behind my name). Do I think they are as terrible as so many have posted since the game? No!
Perhaps I’m a glass half full kinda person, but this is when our team needs our support, not a total dragging. Bright spot for all of the AK haters? He started hitting his 3s again. I’ll take that as a win. (And will now brace for all the BYers who will inevitably tell me what an idiot I am…)

The problem with this is that Kemba could realistically be the best player on the court every game. When you have that, you have a chance to win. I don't see that guy here. McNeeley could be some day, but not right now. Still, this team is Jekyll and Hyde so the story is far from over. I just hope it has a better ending than today!

I agree that I don’t see a Kemba on this team. I just hate to see the downright bashing that they are getting after this game. Who knows? Half the team could be sick right now.
We’ve seen McNeeley, Solo, AK, and others have great games this season. It’s still possible that they could gel at the right time (Aka March)

I think when you lose a game in this manner, to a team this bad, it's fair to bash away. No one hates anyone on the team, no one wants to throw them in a volcano or anything, it's just a frustrating way to lose, and people are emotional. Get back on track next week and it all turns around, fan wise anyway.

What, I can’t be optimistic?
Sure you can but this whole referencing past seasons stuff as an application to the possibilities, just can’t.

Remember when we went on that magical run in the Yankee back in 1948, I.P. Freely carried us to the holy land. Why can’t that happen this year!!!

Yes I remember 2011 and I remember tonight, also this notion we had to win the BE tourney in 2011 to get in is so laughable.

Absolutely be optimistic. Hope that Diarra and Karaban and McNeeley will take this team as far as possible. 2011 with Kemba was as you say miraculous. The team was sheet today but sure, any team which played this crappy has a chance. IF they make the field of 68, they have a chance. All 68 have a chance.

That was a stacked big east, perhaps one of the best conferences ever. Outside of the sec this year maybe even the best, 2024-25 BE pales in comparison.

They did go to OT vs a terrible 3-15 south Florida team, 66-61, but they won.

Don’t expect to see Butler. Duke, Auburn and Alabama are not Butler.
Realistically I don’t expect to see UConn anywhere near the final four this year. Holding out hope for a win in the first weekend, which is more than what I saw in another post crying about how the season is over after last night. IMO, that was a bit dramatic.

Interesting choice comparing us to the 2011 team that won the in season tournament in Hawaii

This years Big East is nothing compared to that years. We lost 9 games in the Big East that year. Most of them to ranked opponents. Yes, we have beaten some ranked teams this year (most no longer ranked), but we haven’t had a complete game. Even in the early season against weaker opponents we didn’t look the part.

The Calhoun era had several down years with 10+ losses. And after a national championship you get that. After 2? You should expect nothing else.

Holding on to a miracle is probably better than most people posting on here. I think the real problem is the expectations. Have been completely unrealistic since the offseason began.
