It was a good run for Nancy Stevens and company while it lasted.

Too bad. But Syracuse seemed to be the better team. This is where not playing those top 5 teams during the season really shows. In women's sports there is a huge difference between the elite teams and everyone else and UConn didn't play any of them during the season.

But 4 final fours in 5 years and 2 titles is nothing to sneeze at. Congrats to the seniors for taking the program to the championship level.

Thanks to the UConn Field Hockey team for a great run. A threepeat is tough in any sport and Syracuse was simply the better team this year.

PS - Dear NCAA, two time defending champ and undefeated UConn against undefeated Syracuse should have been the final, not semi-final. Your #3 seed in UVA had 5 losses and you r#2 seed (UNC) had 2. stop seeding by reputation and give credit to on the field results.

FYI, Syracuse won the title 4 to 2 over UNC to claim their first NCAA Field Hockey Title.

UConn and Syracuse field hockey squads battled it out for several years for the Big East title before Syracuse left for the ACC. Now those battles are over the national championship.

Very true. The field hockey program at my high school was very good and has 3 D1 recruits my senior year - they chose UConn, Syracuse, and Providence respectively, which were the 3 top field hockey programs within the Big E at the time.
