Easy to say that. We'll see what happens. You could argue that if Autry doesn't work out, their next hire will either bring the program back, or it will become even more irrelevant. They haven't been ranked ONCE this decade. That's crazy to think about it, but shows you bad things haven gotten. We see what has happened to BC, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Miami (outside of a random run) etc in the ACC. And so many coaches have retired. It's become a terrible BB conference. The other problem is it is harder than ever to pry coaches away from P5 programs. The SEC, Big Ten and Big 12 can and will keep their coaches. As an example, Michigan got word that Indiana might, might have interest in Dusty May, and he immediately got an extension, in his first year. I don't think Cuse is going to be able to hire an established coach from a P5 program. So they will have to go the mid-major route. Sometimes that works out. The coach from Arkansas St makes a lot of sense as he has Upstate NY ties. But by waiting, they may lose out on him this hiring cycle. I always give Benedict, and Herbst credit. They knew they had to pull the plug on Ollie, and they had a good idea they could get Hurley, and they made the move. And we still got lucky that Hurley really wanted this job, because Pitt was offering more years, and more money. I know it's easy to say that it was obvious Ollie should be fired, but think of the $$$ situation the AD was dealing with, and we hadn't even been invited to the Big East yet.
