“My AAU coach tells me great things about how (Ollie) likes to coach and, I wouldn’t say be a friend, but you can talk to him if you needed to,” Smith said. “…Everything I hear about Kevin Ollie is great. I can’t wait to see him become head coach. Hopefully, I’ll be playing with them.”

More confirmation that this is what recruits are being told.

With Ray Allen's injury issues and him turning 37 this summer he may retire instead of having surgery. I would rather have a proven coach at a high D1 level than just Ollie. However, I'd rather have a coaching staff of Ollie and Ray Allen than basically any coach in the country. I know it would be a long shot of Ray being an assistant at UConn. However, if Ray wants to coach in the NBA some day, than helping his friend secure the head coaching position at UConn and getting some valuable coaching experience himself makes a lot of sense. There are obviously complications in terms of Ray's family commitments etc, but long shots do happen once in a while.

So 6'3 PG, that's nice. Decent highlight reel for a junior PG. Strange shot though.

Marcus Williams dad is the AAU coach, I guess that's good. Though he was Jennings' AAU coach and we all know how that recruitment turned out (good in hindsight with Kemba coming and Jennings' never setting foot on campus anywhere).

that's a pretty telling quote. I've believed all along that it is ollie's ship to sail or sink after calhoun calls it a day, this pretty much confirms that the coaching staff believes that as well. Hopefully the AD will weigh at some point soon as well.
