The Long Game. Preparing for the Masters, put this on. JB Pena (Jay Hernandez) plays a new HS Superintendent in Del Rio, TX in 1955. He's a WWII vet and moved there in part to be near his friend from the army Frank Mitchell (Dennis Quaid). Frank is a club pro golfer and JB is an avid golfer who wants to join his club. That runs into some racial prejudice concerns. Pena spies 5 young caddies who are building a course to practice on. He decides to form a golf team at the HS with those 5 Mexican-American kids. There are some really great performances here, and a whole lot of frustration, education, and anger from Pena and the kids. They struggle to even be allowed on a course. They prove their worth and play more tournaments and eventually the state championship back on their home club course (which grinds the gears of some). It's heartwarming in some ways, and really just a superb story. Fun role for Cheech Marin too. It's all based on a true story. Recommended.
