Outrebounded 32-44 by Cincy today, and gave up 17 offensive boards. Before that is was 35-40 vs Houston, including 16 ORB. We did have a draw on the boards against SMU (37-37, 6-6 ORB), and a draw on the boards against ECU (37-36 and 9-9 ORB), although the latter shouldn't happen.
This is one of those things that is on coaching, from effort to technique to strength. We play half court defense that holds opponents to around 35% shooting overall. We have to grab the ball off the boards. Too many times in the first half I saw players so focused on blocking out their guy that they failed to go after the ball, and from the perimeter an alert Cincy player would swoop in and take advantage. And in the one on one battles among the bigs inside, Gary Clark and Kyle Washington had our number, with maybe a draw with Facey.
This is where, at this point, we have to hope Enoch can learn and Carlton can help. And the guards, and Jackson and Larrier, have to be doing their jobs next year.
