There's no excuse for losing the rebounding battle and giving up this many fouls inside against a team like BU. At some point in cupcake play, one of Nolan, Brimah, Facey, or Olander has to emerge as a stabilizing force inside.

It's the difference between being a flashy, entertaining team and a legitimate championship contender.

This week's forecast calls for more rebounding drills in practice.

Until then they looked really good. Boatright ran the offense well for 4 minutes without Napier. Daniels got off to a good start first 9 minutes.

Some chucking contributed to BU coming back.

Yeah ugly ending. BU sucks and we r keeping them in the game with lack of rebounding and stupid turnovers. I don't see a final four team without some help fron the frontcourt. We are just a 3 pt shooting team right now.

I am so disappointed with how this team plays with a lead. They have no idea how to keep playing with a big lead. Bad job by everyone to let that happen over and over, coaches and players.

its 4 guys standing around the 3 point line, with 1 underneath..we start missing those 3's and no one crashing the broads, equals no good

Yeah some horrible league. Who cares as I'm not impressed by them but I am concerned with uconns lack of rebounding, turnovers and matadore defense. Wait until we play against the big boys playing like this. It could get ugly. I have faith in Ollie's coaching but Brimah has to stay on the floor for us to have a chance.

We just won our last game by 46. I agree we looked awful at the end of the half and looked disinterested but no need to be freaking out.

Let's wait and see how they respond. They had three bad minutes. It was 37-20 and we had one foot in the locker room door for halftime and things went Twilight Zone. Bad loss of focus, but 20 more minutes to focus again.

Well if Napier is intentionally holding back he better bring it right now. We are now in a tied game because we allowed them to believe they could win.

I bet Boston U. could finish in the middle of the Big East this year. Just watch when they play Maryland.

For the most part, he's been playing great this year. But I'd like to see him attack the rim a little, especially when we need to stop a run. People play him for the pass and he can be crafty at drawing fouls when he gets in deep if he chooses to. He likes the little rock back jumper a little too much.

BU is in the Patriot League. Everyone knows Bucknell and Holy Cross just gave North Carolina all they could handle. Just a tiny bit of thinking maybe...

Yes, and BU are a strong favorite in that league.

That said, our rebounding simply has to be better. Frustrating day today.

if they kept an official stat we would probably lead the country in knocking rebounds away from each other, guys gotta start calling out "same". other than that, besides a terrible 5 minute or so stretch, they dominated a team picked to win a good Patriot League, but understanding how the board works I guess this is another "felt like a loss". so are we now 2-2?

PN and DD, especially DD, don't jump toward a missed shot. The bigs also struggle anticipating where the ball will bounce off the rim. Except TO who either gets out jumped or can't hold onto the ball. And DD must have the worse peripheral vision on the team. Just has no clue where his team mates are. PN has the best makings to be an effective rebounder but his timing is off - example was the alley oop which he totally wiffed on - and he struggles containing his player causing him to get into foul trouble. I'd be less concerned about PN working on boxing out and more likely to just keep throwing balls against the rim and have him work on his timing.

AB has incredible timing for blocking except when DD screens him. But he is foul prone and he needs to develop defensive rebounding.

None of our bigs catch the ball cleanly off the rim, even when their the only ones going up for the ball. At times, the don't block out at all, and at other times they block out and don't jump. The only guys who seem able to jump up snatch rebounds without fumbling the ball appear to be Napier and Boatwright. So frustrating. We give up so many second chance points and some of those are rebounds that kicked back out for threes.

Napier hawks down rebounds , could simply be padding his stats. Snatched a few out of a teammates hands today. There was an obvious lack of interest at times in this and the Yale game ; I still like how we can go into another gear when Napier gets aggressive.

Giving up 19 ORB to BU is very telling. It just looks like it's a matter of poor technique and effort. Though some of the issues today was they were getting beat off the dribble and players where scrambling to close out driving lanes and finding themselves out of rebounding position. There were also a lot of big rebounds due to all the 3s BU was taking, 32 in all compared to our 17. But still, it seemed BU tracked those down better than UConn did.

All in all, they need to do a better job of getting a body on someone when the shot first goes up, create a pocket and then release to the ball at the right time. Too much turning around and looking at where the ball might land.
