The benefits on the court are obvious; but the real value will be his leadership off the court. His comments about his mother strongly advising him to set an example for those who look up to him and his own comments about working to get closer to obtaining his degree were outstanding. This program is still in a state of image repair(and I was NEVER supportive of the media witch hunt and the ridiculous NCAA sanctions out of proportion to the so-called violations) and having a head coach like Kevin Ollie and, now, a senior leader like Shabazz certainly puts us on the fast track to the status the UCONN deserves in the world of college hoops.
