It was just an unorganized game. In the first half the worst part was our defense and TO's on the O--and that will improve quickly. I thought we left shooters open way too much.

Boatright is THE key man--he needs to play a tad better(but he was good tonight) he needs to be cleaner with the ball. He can control the game a tad better.
Purvis has been hyped up a lot and he was too jacked. I know its one game but Im not sure that its in his or our best interest to start 2 guard. I think with his slashing ability--he will be better suited as 6th man and let him take some time into his role as the 18 months off looked evident.
Brimah if he can stay out of FT will surprise on the offensive end.
T Samuel is still a real nice spark plug
We need more from Nolan Facey Lubin right away--they need to score some and get into the flow.
Hamilton looks like he will be a Richard Hamilton type in 2-3 years and will have some big games.
Cassell is going to be a great 3 year player for us--great.

I wonder if Calhoun might be better starting right now than Purvis.

The real problem is going to be our outside shooting. All of our shooters from last year are gone. Boat can knock some down, cassel and Hamilton look like they can too, omar who knows. But I wouldnt label any of them shooters. With a lack of low post game and questionable outside shooting, opposing teams may have a pretty easy defensive gameplan against us.

Casell is legit. Not very quick or athletic but he knows how to play. Hamilton will be a stud. T Sam is a great guy off the bench. hopefully omar improved a lot. Brimah certainly did. Boat is boat. And purvis has the talent but it remains to be seen whether he has a position or can put it all together. That's still a lot of good players. Legit 8 deep with guys who can play.

Facey is a mystery and Nolan will be a role player at best.

We have a lot of talent, but I suspect our outside shooting will be inconsistent all year and our biggest weakness. Plenty of guys with potential to fill that void but we shall see. Lots of talent on the team though and will definitely be a very fun team to watch.

There are no problems this early. We are the kings of the basketball world and beat the second best D 2 team in the country. The only thing that could happen tonight that mattered is if someone got hurt and TG that did not happen. Relax. Enjoy.

Just remember, Emeka stunk up the joint in his first exhibition game. I thought Hamilton looked like a player already and Nolan still cannot finish.

Jitters + excitement + minor championship hangover + entitlement feeling vs. D2 SCSU = bad performance.

rockskee had only 7 min stint and still got 4 bds, obvious he has never seen a free throw he liked, did he play any d?
purv could be a 2 sport guy where foosbal is primo; guy just doesnt give a hoop vibe; that new foosbal ceo may do well to chat w/ purv; $ could be hiding on gridiron with aggression, speed, power
facey 9 bds impressive
huskies need omar sooner than later; he is pivotal
new rip shows the point forward that is hiding in him, shut down deep shot pleeeese
sam jr seems settling influence
boat be boat, sail on
amida stats in box looked nice with 11 bds & 5-7

Just nitpicking, but as scote says, there's nothing to turn around. The gates have just opened and they are edging their way out onto the track.

Only thing that matters to me tonight is Brimah. 12 and 11 in only 20 minutes against a D-1 level opponent does more than less to validate the reports coming out of camp. If that guy is controlling the backboards and knocking down 15 footers this team is going to be a terror. No sense in worrying about the guards.

Im with you, I believe Purvis may be overhyped. Not saying hes a bust, but he just didn't look like a player ready for the NBA. I hope that I'm wrong on this. That being said, Cassell looked great. He was hitting shots everywhere and drawing fouls; he's definitely going to be a great UConn player for years to come.

Didn't see the game and so don't know how poorly Purvis played, but Ollie probably is not going to throw the Ferrari under the bus anytime soon.

I'm hoping and believing that it was just 1.5 years of having to watch others play - his mind must have been racing.

Gonna be a long season for Purvo on the Boneyard. No one could have anticipated that. And by "no one" I mean "everyone."

Can't bring yourself to go with "Purv"? I'm personally a fan.

I thought he said foosball like the table game then I think there was a bowling reference in there but I can't be sure.

That's chap-speak for football.

Cassell Jr. can ball and fades away every shot he takes, now can he do it against a D-1 team? We'll see but I am pleasantly surprised, seems to have a really high BB IQ. Am I the only one who thinks Brimah still needs a lot of work? (AKA catching passes, finishing dunks.) D-Ham looks like he can seriously be a really really good player soon.if he catches on quickly enough the kid could be a monster this year. Rodney- he was down on himself early after a few missed buckets on drives to the lane...(I hope the kid has a jump shot, btw.) At one point, Boat said " this" and took over completely, scored like 6 in a row which is good, he's our leader. Phil played okay, banged on the inside a little for once on offense. Facey was invisible. TSam is a spark off the bench, as usual. Lubin needs work.

just based on box score (i saw none of game action)
1)samuel needs more of purv minutes
2)rockski needs more of nolan minutes
3)omar is urgently needed
4)fan8 said facey was invisibility cloaked but kid got 9 bds which is amazing in 18min b/c facey is reticent personality so he just dont takes bull by horns and attack, it not his nature so shot vol will always be low unless he finds confidence gimmick; maybe wear daddys war medal or wear shades during game like that bowler who is kid of hall of fame bowler dick weber sr or maybe smoke cigar on bench like celtic coach red a

this club will not be anywhere close to foul shooting club of 14titleteam-bigprob
ans:more shot volume means more and more offensive boards required and full court pressure where i seize purv shine in 94footsygame/this club is coaching nite marish but great lab for olliewood to tinker with in secrecy of new hoop trng fieldhouse (pleeze keep practices closed)
if rockski can get up and down with rapidity in press with boat,purv,newrip,faceyamida2headedmonsta it would be great time to sig it on next exhibition game not only to see what they gotz but to show it to this yrs sched so they must game plan for it

He mentioned gridion so it must be football. No point trying to decipher Chap. We would be here for years.

D-Ham threw up two alleyoops to Brimah, and a 3rd one was blown dead by a whistle. Looks like reports of his ball-hogging were greatly exaggerated.
