"A message from Ray and his representatives at Tandem Sports & Entertainment on his NBA future... Amid continued rumors and having spoken with Ray today, let me be very clear. Ray's position has not changed. Ray has not decided if he will play this season nor has he signed with the Cavs."
Like I said in the OP. Maybe or maybe not. From Ray's facebook page today...
I see nothing wrong with Ray chasing more 'ships. What other reason does he really have to play? If he thinks his best chance is with the Cavs, then Cleveland it is.
Love of the game, extending his legacy hopefully beyond steph curry etc.
I believe every person who has taken part in a sport has been told at a time that a sport or game isn't purely about winning the highest championship level of the sport. If all players had the 'do all you can to win a title' each year, you'd rarely see cinderella stories in the college game, and there'd be more kentucky's than any other style of team. Pro leagues would be full of mediocre players with max deals and big market teams featuring 12 stars playing for 1/5 what theyre worth
That's all well and good, but when you are in your 20th year, and the body requires that much more maintenance. And your legacy is set in stone at this point. And you're taking precious time from your family...the only real reason to come back is one more run at a Championship. imo

Well I agree that it would be strange if he signed a year contract to play with Milwaukee or Minnesota, but I think going to a team that gives you a 'chance' at a ring is different than going to the unanimous favorite to win it each year, to me it comes off as lazy and wrong as a true competitor.
Said it before, but if an old veteran wants to do it to earn a first ring, then I'm fine with it. I'd be fine with a guy taking a 5$ contract to get a chance to win that elusive ring, but once you have won one or two... it loses that "I just want a ring" aspect and becomes lazy and cheap, sends a bad message to the youngsters who idolize you
Where do they get all these "sources". I swear, with the coming of the 'twitter news cycle' there are more bogus reports from 'sources' in sports than I can ever remember.
Clearly I've got nothing as enlightening as the constructive viewpoint of:
"Thanks for sharing. Anything else?"

It is all part of the long, slow, and oh-so-dramatic death of professional journalism. No need to check sources, confirm rumors or do your homework anymore... just guess, hint, extrapolate -- and publish. People give these folks credibility so they'll just continue to operate this way.
The NBA isn't a league where outside chances win championships. It never has been. The champion team is always stacked, from the Celtics' and Lakers' various dynasties to Jordan's bulls to Duncan's spurs to LeBron and the heatles. The Mavs run is the only recent exception, and that was only because Dirk was in full on you mode in the finals.Clearly I've got nothing as enlightening as the constructive viewpoint of:

Ray's "official" Facebook page says whatever it is he decides to do will appear there first. Is it wrong to hope he ends up at on KO's staff at some point?
I hear this all the time, but has Ray EVER indicated he's interested in coaching? Honest question.
