UCLA should not have even made that game, barely surviving Missouri in the second round on a last second, coast-to-coast. The 2002 team was not one of UConn's best, but had a shot to win it all. It got knocked out in the Final 8 by a good, not great Maryland team that would go on to win the National Championship. That Final 8 game is one of the very few big games in UConn history where officiating was a problem, with the officiating crew treating a lumbering, unathletic Lonnie Baxter like he was Hakeem Olajuwon. If Okafor is not in foul trouble that whole game, UConn wins easily.
