quick thoughts then a write up later in this thread

i would like to do a writeup a bit later and hopefully u guys enjoy it. anyway i have to say a couple things.

i didn't think i was going to go 2night with work but i got a half day 2day when i got to the office and was happy as all get out. had a great time overall. sorry to a couple yarders who i would have tried to meet and greet but on the ride up i was all over twitter and here and my phone was dead by the time the gates opened lol.

i was very happy with whitmer. i can see the next 3 years are going to be alot of fun with him and are wr corp.

oline is our only major problem which i will give my 2 cents on later

why do u tell everyone about whitmer trick play stuff?!?!?!

halftime with both bands was cool beans, anyone got a picture?

how bad ass did that frank hit look on tv? looked cool being there.

just put on the byu game. if i have it in me i'll do my write up 2night if not 2moro at the office...

my dad said they talked a bit on tv about adding teams to the nbe. quietly has emptied there schedule, and with navy in it sounds like this is already a done deal. screw 14, get byu and 1 of unr and fresno and lets dance with the tv contract stuff. the worst case for uconn is this nbe with those teams added. the best case is that espn does in fact poach more becuase of nbc trying to be a competitior and teams like uconn, ruty and lville go elsewhere. time to put the pressure on and see what happens. the worst case is that we find ourselves a home that has 15 other teams going to war with us and a good tv deal!

I think its mad science or just mad.

Think about it. When McCummings comes off the sidelines, the defensive coordinator sees him trotting on and calls down to the sidelines to subsitute the wildcat defensive package.

So, let me ask you this. Who on the opponents staff is responsible for making sure that Whitmer leaves the game? Probably no one. All eyes are on the incoming package of players and no one is checking the outgoing group. Guess what? Five more seconds just got chipped off the defensive coordinators time to send in his package. Gotta check to see if Whitmer left the game or is staying in as a wideout. And you have to decide who covers him. Your nickle or dime back? Waste of talent if Whitmer just stands on the line of scrimmage as a decoy. LB? DE? I don't know, but I'm not paid to know either. Like I said in a separate thread. Machivillian and in layman's term, Diccckkk move by DeLeone in a good way for us.

i know some r going to bitch about the whitmer 2 ints so i might as well say it now.

1-it was a fluke great play by the umass player. whitmer should have thrown it out of bounds more. he will never make that mistake again now after that. glad it happened 2night and not some time in the future
2-thats just a mistake and i expect those with a kid like him.

im fine with what he did 2night and i think he will get more snaps over mccum as time goes on and he gets a feel and develops...

Smallwood,Williams,and Moore are beasts.It's gonna be fun watching them terrorize opposing qb's.

looks a whole lot better than last year. Work to be done, but there is something to build on. Albeit a weak opp., D looks very good and O looks promising especially the air side. Receivers have some good hands and Whitmer looks pretty sound. Only area I was less than impressed with was the running game. McCombs looks unimpressive against a slower and less athletic defense than he'll see most of the year. Couldn't find or hit holes, and looked tentative . Had one run that was mindblowing that was called back, but no real consistent chunks of yardage. Hopefully it is just a matter of more reps. Obviously the O-Line could be part of the issue here and UMass was loading the box, but still by Q3 and 4 I was expecting much more run dominence.

All in all, it seems like there are some real solid positive improvements and some real bright spots. I guess NC State ( a whole different level of play than UMass ) will be a good test of what we may have. Fairly optimistic, though and its nice to be back in the Rent on a great night like tonight.

I'm watching the game and seeing changes on the OL early. Bullock has played a big chunk the entire second quarter at center. Masters, Crus, Mateas, Bennet, Bullock during one series with Samra in and out.

PP has said he wants his OL to learn two positions and I think that is what we saw tonight. Makes me feel better. Bennet was the only one I saw all the time.
