In Jeff Jacobs article this morning in the c-7 leaving, he made the statement that the Leprechauns are exempt from paying an exit fee. Why? Is it because they have agreed to staying the full 27 months post announcement to leave?

Is it because they're an olympic sports team and since the rest of the non-FB is leaving, none have to pay?

It is because they negotiated that in their deal to join the Big East. Not surprising is it?

It was actually a clause that theh football schools wanted added a few years back. If either side decided to leave as a block, they could do so without penalty, as long as they all did it together.

except they didn't leave as a block, they left before the C7 announced. Therefore, they need to pay. Had they waited and left at the same time, then I could see it.

No you misunderstood what I said, Either side could leave without penalty. If the football schools wanted out, they could leave without the withdrawl fees as long as they all moved out as a block. That was when the talk was that they wanted to split. Unfortunately they never formed thier own league, they just shattered and the C& took what was still an available option.
