Can they transfer? My friend said they could which makes absolutely no sense if kids could not do well at one school with grades, transfer and play and not suffer consequences

I heard the same thing. They can transfer without having to sit out a year. I guess this is the way that the NCAA can claim that they are punishing the program and the school, rather than the students. It is obviously very flawed, but since when has the NCAA let logic get in the way of their reasoning?

Yes and why should they suffer the consequences of others? These kids are not the kids who should be penalized by the NCAA but unfortunately theones who should are gone......let's hope the NCAA comes to their senses and makes the right decision as to not penalize the kids who don't deserve to be, we'll see....

Oriakhi is the only player who can transfer without having to sit out a year. Special provisions are only made for players whose entire remaining eligibility would be affected by the postseason ban.

And the players on the current team are not the ones who "did not do well with grades."

Didn't know that, thanks for the clarification. That makes the future look better and should stave off everyone's fears that the program will go straight down the toilet because of this. Our core players will probably be staying, so even if we don't make the tourney next year, the following season looks bright.

Right. I would like Oriakhi to stay no matter what, but ultimately it's not a decision that's going to affect the long term success of the program. He's only going to transfer (I would hope) if the tourny ban sticks. If the tourny ban sticks, next year is going to suck whether Oriakhi is here or not.

People say the program is at a turning point now, I think the turning point is the 2014 seasaon. Next year could either be great or it could be a complete waste of time depending on the NCAA's decision, but I see 2014 as the pivotal year. We should have a core group of juniors and seniors (Boat, Napier, Roscoe, Giffey, Olander, Daniels), but the question becomes 1) who do we get in the 2013 class to supplement those guys, and 2) who do we get in the 2014 class to replace those guys.

We should have all of our scholarships back, a new practice facility, and hopefully a more clear picture of the future coaching situation. If we can parlay those things into solid 2013 and 2014 recruiting classes, I don't see this program taking a step back.

Why should AO suffer because Gavin Edwards was too lazy to finish his last semester?

Right that's why the apr is bullshll. For AO hel miss his sr makes sense plus he's a head case it seems. But for kids that come in can slack off then transfer their soph year or jr and still play is stupid

Just because AO is the only one who can transfer without sitting out doesn't mean others won't transfer. Some might see next season as a year to sit out because of the ban. No postseason is basically a lost season. If JC hangs it up as well, look for a lot more transfers. I don't think we are in a good spot at all.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that Alex said he'd be back to finish his career at UConn no matter the outcome of the tournament ban.

Alex really needs to come back.

Not for basketball. But to mature as a person. To finish on a high note. He was given a lot of responsibility this year. And at times, both on and off the court, he didn't act like he didn't deserved that responsibility. It was a difficult year filled with lots of challenges. But that's life, you can't control the challenges that come your way. You can control how you respond. He needs to take moment, then come back and stand tall. If he does, he will leave UConn a real leader and a better man.
