agree, he earned to the job going in, now let someone take it by stepping up even further

Man I hope Whitmer has a good year. Reading the ESPN article what jumps out at me is the coach's statement, "Has he learned from those decisions he made in the past?" I saw him make some of the same mistakes a few times last year. lets hope that changes.

I hope another change is some actual blocking so that he doesn't take another beating.

Absolutely. But part of being a good QB is knowing when not to make a bad situation worse and throw a bad ball when it would be better to just take a sack.

That sequence of events was really shocking. I would like to see more common sense used in the future by those in charge. Thankfully the conductor has been demoted from that band. Should have been fired though.

Didn't you know that the goal is to accumulate 3rd downs? The conversion rate is worth points on the scoreboard.

One is not exclusive of the other, many of his bad decisions came while under heavy pressure trying to make something out of nothing, better blocking may have helped tremendously. Yes he has to make better reads, a given for a first year player, but he can't be running for his life while trying to do so either, and the skill guys have to notice the pressure and cut off a route to give him some help as well. It's not all on him.

No way that a play with a bad outcome is worse than the decision process that puts your quarterback in serious harm's way with a ridiculous decision.

I remember sitting in the stands after Whitmer got KO'ed. I've never been more upset with a coaching staff than I was after that play. Whitmer was left out there on an island with no protection. And the play was run to his side of the field. That was coaching malpractice. And if I were Whitmer's father, I'd have given P & GDL an earful.
